OVERVIEW:

This Ford Model A is a true low mileage survivor. Apart from a long ago repaint in its original color. it is an honest original. unmolested and unrestored. The car is very complete. very solid. and in basic drivable condition with 44. 97 original miles. Although its entire history is not known. it sports a 1973 Colorado sticker on the windshield. and has resided in southern Alberta for a number of years. It is also quite evident that this car did not spend much time exposed to the elements. and has lived most. if not all of its life under cover.

The car shows the normal wear and tear of its original miles and age. but overall it is a very solid and clean car. It is an excellent candidate for a correct restoration given its completeness. unmolested state. very solid wood and rust free condition. However. with a good amount of elbow grease in cleaning up the engine compartment and chassis. and a good shining up of the exterior and interior. many would consider this car too good an original to be restored.
It is optioned with single sidemount spare. external sun shade. rear view mirror. dual tail lights. and rear luggage rack with trunk.

DRIVETRAIN:

The engine is the correct inline L-head 4 cylinder displacing 200 ci. and rated at 40 hp.
Everything under the hood appears to be original equipment. and the car retains a 6-volt electrical system. The only modern looking items are the hose clamps. fan belt. and a couple strands of wire.

From its appearance it is evident that the engine and components have been serviced as required in order to maintain it in good running order. The engine sounds good and runs strong.
The engine compartment is totally original and simply requires a good de-greasing and cleaning. Nice original splash pans in good condition.
The radiator core is in excellent condition. no damage either side. no apparent leaks.

CHASSIS:

The frame is totally solid and straight. there is no evidence of collision damage. and it is free of any heavy rust or cancer. It sports the road dirt of its miles and light surface rust. with paint still evident in some areas. The original wood blocks between the frame and body are still in place and in good condition.
All suspension. steering and driveline components are original without modifications.
The transverse leaf springs still retain their original sheath covers. and a positive arch with no evident sagging.

The mechanical 4 wheel internal expanding brake system is intact and in working order.
The exhaust system is in good condition with original style tapered muffler.

The correct original wire spoke wheels all appear to be straight and in good condition. and sport nice original hubcaps. The 4 running tires are a matched set of Firestone 4. 75/5. 00 x 19 bias 4 ply black walls with good tread remaining.

BODY & PAINT:

There is no evidence of it having had any previous body work. just an older repaint in its original body color with black fenders and aprons. so there are no hidden secrets to this car.
There is no evidence of any serious collision damage. and the body and sheet metal on this car are quite straight. and totally rust free. The only exceptions are a dent at the rear of the right rear fender. and just a few very minor dings on the other fenders. These are all of a minor nature and would be easily repaired without the use of filler.

The undersides of the fenders show only light surface rust. with some original paint still visible. Note the gravel rash on the undersides shows up in line with the tire tread pattern. usually only seen on low mileage cars.

The front cowl. door sills. body quarters. and rear body panel are all in excellent condition. free of any dents or rust.
The splash pan below the rad and the side aprons above the running boards are all in nice shape. as are the louvered hood side panels.

The metal floor pans are very solid.
The original running boards are solid. but no longer have their rubber mat covers.

All wood throughout the car is original and in excellent dry. solid condition.
The top appears to be the original and in very good condition. It has a nice fit. snug retainer strip. no wear or rips. just faded. Judging by the nice headliner the top is doing its job keeping water out.

A nice complement of original tools and jack in the trunk is included.

INTERIOR:

The interior is in totally original survivor condition. It is in very nice condition. albeit not perfect. there are a few tatters. such as the assist straps hanging in the back compartment. It is nice enough however that it should be left alone and enjoyed as is. This car does not appear to have ever had a rodent problem.
The only items noted as missing are the front carpeting and driver side kick panel.

The door panels are in nice condition with only some light. minor water staining. The wind lacing around the doors is also nice.

Exterior mounted vacuum wiper motor also allows for manual operation.

The headliner is very nice with no apparent holes or tears.

The painted dash is intact and retains its original pin stripping.
The original steering wheel has only a few hairline cracks where the spokes meet the hub.
All glass is original and intact.

BRIGHTWORK:

All brightwork on the car is in very nice original condition.
Both bumpers are very straight and damage free. with no rust or peeling of the plating.

The radiator shell is very nice and straight with only one small dent along the left vertical edge. Nice Ford emblem and crank hole cover is present.

The original Ford script headlamp buckets are nice with original Ford script glass lenses in good condition. The right one has a couple of soft dents on the ring.
Nice cowl lamps and tail lights with good lenses as well.
