Jaguar : XJ12 Vanden Plas for sale
Current customer rating:
I'm sure you'll agree (because you're here) that there are few more attractive sedans ever made than the svelte Series III Jag. especially in Vanden Plas trim. But. you may also agree that nearly 20 years later. most of those still on the road are past the aging gracefully stage and anyway the V 12 (never offered in the US in this series) was too thirsty and too difficult to make driving one worth the effort.
So. here's the answer: A FULLY RECONDITIONED. EURO-VERSION (note the original 7" headlights and lack of side marker lights). V-8 POWERED. completely reliable. fun to drive classic! The car has been in the hands of a bonafide English car nut (daily driver: Bentley Brooklands!) for several years and received the "treatment" he usually reserved for his collection of Bentleys and Diamlers. To whit. a strip to bare metal. windows out. trim off repaint with in a stunning Range Rover ces were PROFESSIONALLY replaced with brand new. VAT DYED. HAND-STITCHED top-quality hides.
That's ALL SURFACES seats. doors. armrest! Even the headliner was treated to a full covering of a warm grey Ultrasuede. including the visors.
This is R-R grade stuff. folks! Wheels were upgraded with attractive. unblemished 16" alloys from a 1996 XJS and fitted with new tires.
Brakes are new as well.
Of course all other mechanical and electrical systems were brought up to top operating condition as well: windows. moonroof. brakes. all of it!
But the piece-de-resistance is under the hood where a JOHN'S CARS professionally installed Chevy 350 TBI V-8 engine resides. coupled to a TH 700 R 4 overdrive trans (2100 RPM at 70 note also that the V 12 Series III came with the Limited Slip Differential). Not a hot-rodded motor (not that it needed to be). but just a smooth-running. reliable as the cast iron anvil it is. small block Chevy.
Now. you've heard the horror stories about amateur small-block swaps. but this was done with the TOP-GRADE components supplied by the brainiacs at John's Cars in Dallas

. They've been doing the Chevy conversions for over 30 years. so they've pretty much ironed out the bugs. don'tcha know? This car even includes an ODBII adapter to verify critical engine and transmission functions. Again. this car got the full treatment: John's Cars Radiator (with dual elec fans). AC and Heat interface. and Guage Package. so that all instrument functions read correctly. The exhaust is new as well and the John's Cars fuel tank crossover so that the car can be filled from either side.
All this makes for a no-fuss ownership experience.
So if you want the comfort. serenity. and stop-traffic good looks of the CLASSIC JAG SEDAN without all the ownership hassles. and without spending any more than you would for a well-kept Honda Accord. look no further. Or rather. look VERY closely at the pictures here.
See if you can find a flaw! And then see if you don't agree that this is the smartest used Jag purchase you could possibly make!
Please note that the VIN shown on this ad is NOT accurate (its is for a 1985 US spec 6 cyl) - the correct Euro VIN would not be accepted by e Bay. The correct VIN is SAJJDRLW 4 CC 390811. The car is offered with a clear Oklahoma title which notes it as a "Classic" and is based on the correct VIN (I'll send a copy upon request). Sorry for any confusion!
But do not procrastinate - this car is going to find its prideful new owner sooner than later. I suspect.
Please feel free to e-mail me your questions. which I will answer for all to see. Include your phone number and the degree of seriousness of your intent and I'll discuss further with you. I will gladly arrange an independent inspection here in Atlanta at your expense.
