Back in the early 60's of the last century (did I just say that?). I worked for a small company just South of San Francisco. A good friend and previous co-worker had suggested that I come to work there. The company was owned by a family. and they had a vacation cabin at a lake in Northern California. I believe that the family had bought the Jeep new in 1946. and for the most part. it spent it's entire life up at that cabin. I'm leaving some details out in the interest of keeping you awake. So. life moved on. I worked all over the place. at many different jobs. but my good buddy stayed right there. He eventually bought the business. and later. the jeep. He has a place in Northern California. and that is where the Jeep stayed. He bought the jeep in about 1990. and has used it very little since then. He recently decided to sell the puppy. and the rest is history. Here it is for sale.

THIS IS PROBABLY THE NICEST UNRESTORED CJ2A-VEC COLUMN SHIFT JEEP IN EXISTENCE !!!!!!!!!

This CJ2A is considered a VEC (Very Early Civilian) as it was assembled in early '46 and is number 24. 29. The VEC run ended with number 34. 30. After that they were known a EC (Early Civilian) jeeps.   The early VEC Jeeps were column shift models. I'm not sure. as is anyone. just how many column shift units were built. and all I can say is. find one. They are extremely rare. To find one in this condition is more than rare.

I went through the brakes on this critter. along with replacing the fuel tank. carb. ignition stuff and lots of other assorted items. The best part is. the engine is completely rebuilt and has about 10 miles on it. It also has the good front hubs. The tires are very old and dry. but do hold air. The original seat frames had the backs cut off so that the high backs could be used. The body is not rust free. but there are no rotted out areas. Look at the pictures. This funster has been painted for over 20 years. Any big rust would show. I have a tow bar. made from an old Chev lower control arm that will go with the sale. This jeep has all the original running gear. engine on back. with the exception of the hubs. and I believe that I have those.

Any questions please feel free to call. Bruce (208) 695-3956

A couple more things. If you look close at the pictures. you can see remnants of the original color. which is Pasture Green. It is one of 2 colors that were available. the other being Harvest Tan. Also. I have installed a new 8V battery. which works perfect with the 6V system. Not cheap. but worth it.
