3 Day Auction At No Reserve Sold To The Highest Bidder

An Original 1973 Mercedes 450SL with only 44k actual miles. The original owner was a Dr. who purchased the Benz new in Los Angeles. He drove it as his weekend car & after 2 years (1975) sold it to his colleague. Margaret (shown in the photo above). She was a Doctor of Education. USC College. She lived in Pasadena. California and had drove it a very short distance for the first few years to work.

Over the last 30 years. it was barley driven other then local trips to keep the SL going. Still remained in Pasadena area since 1975. Always garaged & covered. never neglected. This Mercedes is a fine example of a True extremely low mileage Survivor. A lady who really loved her car.
 Up for the auction for the very first time publicly anywhere since new. . .

This 1973 450SL remains all original. unrestored & in beautiful condition. The condition of the car along with the documentation proves the very low mileage 044. 15.  Spent its entire life in Southern California with its original Blue plates. The owner mention that it had never left the city. A fine example of a True Calif. Mercedes. No Rust what so ever. Beautiful Original straight panels. remaining its Original Paint except for the driver fender was spot painted (original inner fender paint. you can't tell unless your an expect) in the early 80's due to her son's bicycle coming to close. All original trim. glass. wheel covers. interior. soft top & drivetrain.  

The interior is 100% original & as you can see. in outstanding shape. Margaret & her husband was the only drivers of this Mercedes. Close to 40 years to have owned it. cherishing it. She mention to me that the Hardtop hasn't been taken off since she purchased it. Mentioning that it was to heavy & was worried of dropping the hard top.  The original Black soft top is nearly flawless other then the plastic fading.  Comes from non smoking owners.  still has the Mercedes vintage smell. The seats were covered including the Mercedes Coco mats.  The original radio. air condition. all gauges. all electrical are in working order (except the clock as usual).

This Mercedes is in excellent running condition. The original V8 has always been maintained & serviced. The transmission shifts fine into all gears. Drives very smoothly & quiet down the road. Recently drove it on the freeway. cruising at 75-80mph. Less then 2k miles ago. went thru a full tune up including new tires. brakes. recharging the a/c. cleaning the injectors & new hoses. I do have service records to document all of this as well as the mileage. Also. service stickers on the door showing in 1987. it had 30k original miles. This Mercedes without a doubt. can be driven anywhere at anytime.  

I do have the original Small Calif. Pink Slip. booklets. Mercedes tool kit. hardtop removal tools & a signed dated letter from Margaret (2nd owner 1975-present) stating the history & mileage are True. Also. providing the insurance agents information to document the mileage & owner history.  

Overall. it's a True Early 450Sl Survivor with only 44k Actual Miles.  Same Owner since 1975 that has kept it like she got it close to 40 year ago.  It's nearly impossible to find another one in this sort of condition . . . At No Reserve
