Current customer rating: (559 votes ) based on1952 Studebaker Champion
I purchased this car in 2010 from the original California owner. That person kept the car garaged its entire life and he had it totally restored between 1990 and 2004. I used as a daily driver in 2010 but recent life changes has forced me to sell. As you can see the car is in great condition and probably could be driven away. I do have the original manual. shop manual and box of receipts. Details are as follows:
Description: 1952 Studebaker Champion straight six. three on the tree. four door
Paint Complete paint job in 1997 using the original factory Maui Blue. This was a very detailed job with all doors and fenders removed. All fender welting. window and door rubber was replaced. The only rust on the car was a very small amount on the very bottom of the trunk which was brazed and repaired during paint prep. The dashboard door jams and interior pieces were all repainted. The fender skirts are not shown but they are in excellent shape and are included in the sale. Please note a very small amount of rust is starting to come back at the bottom of the trunk lid. The fact that is has taken 15 years for come back says a lot for the quality of the work that was done.
Chrome – Most of the chrome has been redone. including the chrome pieces on the dashboard.
Engine Rebuild. Engine has only 11. 00 miles since it was rebuilt in 1990. The car does smoke some going up very long steep hills. The carburetor needs some adjustment so that it starts easily. I just purchased and installed a brand new battery.
Transmission: Overdrive works and the transmission was also rebuilt several years ago. Overdrive provides a 2nd and 3rd high gear for a total of 5 gears.
Interior restoration. New headliner. upholstery. door panels. carpets and more was done in 2002. Seat cushions were also completely rebuilt at this time
Accessories: Heater. windshield wipers and blinkers work. however the blinkers lever has to be held in position. The radio was rebuilt in 2011. New fuel sending unit installed. but it is only accurate enough to ensure you will not run out of fuel.
Brakes: Master cylinder. brake cylinders and all hoses have been replaced. Emergency and rear brakes need work. I am told the rear shoes are worn. The car does stop but brakes seem to overheat going down long hills.
Tires. – Radials set of five. 5. 00 miles on full set of steel belted 195/75-15 radials
Shipping: Shipping arrangements and expense are the responsibility of the buyer. Car is located in Middlesex. Vermont
