This automobile was originally sold in Texas and has remained in the state.
A very solid. mostly rust free 41 Chevy coupe was resting in a salvage yard in Rosebud Texas in 2003. Needing a good home. I brought it to Austin to begin a complete frame-off restoration. As luck would have it. we were offered a very rusty 51 Chevy convertible parts car. As you can tell from the pictures. our direction changed at that point. Using the 51 frame. convertible top. dash and other needed parts. the coupe was converted.
I not only wanted a unique looking classic but it had to have a comfortable ride with power. That's when I bought an 85 Corvette body with no motor. I used the complete rear suspension and the 370 rear-end. plus the 700 R 4 transmission.
Now the fun began in creating a stylish Chevy convertible using 2 vehicles with different designs built 10 years apart. Four years later. and many long days. the conversion was completed in 2008. We were able to enter the “2008 Goodguys Lonestar Show” and received a Top 10 Award from Rod & Custom. In 2009 at the ”Autorama
Show” in Houston. I received the Street Rod Builders award since then it has received awards at all local car shows entered.
I have documented every phase of the restoration with photos and receipts of all work performed from the find to the completion of the project.
