1952 AC Two Litre Saloon for sale

Produced in Surrey between 1947 and 1956. only 1. 84 AC
Two-Litre. four-door saloons were ever produced and even fewer
drophead coupés and 'Buckland' tourers made the production line.
AC's 1991 cc engine was the first offered by the company in the AC
16 in 1922 however. by 1947. the engine boasted a power output of
74 bhp and increased again in 1951 to 85 bhp. more than twice claimed
for the engine's original application.
An aluminium paneled body on a wood frame was fitted to a
conventional steel chassis with rigid axles front and rear and
semi-elliptic leaf springs. For the first time on an AC. hydraulic
dampers were used and. until 1951. the car had a hybrid braking
system hydraulic at the front and cable at the rear.
In
1948. a two-door saloon car costing £1. 77 was tested by The Motor
magazine achieving a top speed of 80 mph and could accelerate from
0-60 mph in 19. 9 seconds.
This Two-Litre saloon. offered in mid-blue with blue leather
upholstery and polished walnut dash. is in beautiful original
condition. The standard Smiths instruments. Brooklands steering
wheel and original tool kit are all present and the auto cold
start. which in these cars is prone to fault. is working correctly
rendering this Two-Litre saloon. as the vendor explains. "a
pleasure to drive".
Accompanied by a wealth of history. dating back to 1958. and
including correspondence between the previous owners and AC of
Thames Ditton. this also boasts a buff log book. original
instruction manual and many old Mo T test certificates amongst the
plentiful history which is well worth the time to inspect and a
testament to the care afforded her throughout its life. With just
under 56. 00 miles on the clock and a genuine useable attitude. br/>this fine example will be a pleasure to own and drive for many
years to come and. with so few still in existence. why not own
something a little unique.
