1963 - Austin Healey Sprite - 1275cc Sebring Spite Evocation for sale
Current customer rating: (429 votes ) based onWe have great pleasure in bringing to the market this freshly constructed John Sprinzel Sebring Sprite Replica.
Constructed from a 1963 Austin Healey Sprite and using a full "Archers Garage" Sebring Conversion Body-kit this beautiful car is an accurate replica of the Iconic Sebring Sprite.
The Sprinzel Sebring Sprite Coupe was introduced to the world at the London Racing Car Show in January 1961 and whilst only 6 examples were produced - 2 of the cars were raced at Sebring in 1961 in the Hands of Pat & Stirling Moss enhancing the marques pedigree. During the period many body variants of the Sprite were produced to give racing advantage but none are revered as being as Iconic as John Sprinzels design.
Archers Garage located at Oldbury Nr Birmingham have been long associated with British Sports Cars and re-created the Sprinzel pretty streamlined hardtop and bonnet in the early nineties from an original Sprinzel Car and incidentally are the only company to have gained John Sprinzels approval.
The History of this particular car can be traced back to its life starting in Hong Kong and was originally used by a military officer before being repatriated back to the UK fully restored in 1985. The Previous UK Owner purchased the car a few years ago as a nice road useable example but embarked upon a full strip and rebuild to create the car we see today.
The Car was completely stripped back to the bare body-shell to allow any necessary repairs to be effected before the body kit was fitted and the body-shell entrusted to "Bromsgrove Body Repairs" in Worcestershire for finish preparation and painting with a polyester undercoat before final priming and numerous top coats being applied.
Painted in its Original Colour of "Old English White" with Black Carpets and the Original Period Seats Re-trimmed in a Deep Red Vinyl - it was the Owner's intention to keep the Colours true to how it left the factory over 50 years ago.
Fitted with a Half Roll Cage for added safety. a 15" Wood Rim Steering Wheel. Bullet Mirrors and a Monza Alloy Fuel Filler Cap to complete the Period Sebring Racing Look.
The Original 1098cc Engine has been replaced with a more gutsy period 1275cc Unit which has been fitted with a New Borg & Beck Clutch and has been fully tested and is painted in the correct period BMC Green. Running a New 40 DCOE Webber Carburettor. the engine fires up readily and runs smoothly with perfect oil pressure and an impressive turn of speed. pace and an induction roar so synonymous with a Webber !
A New Wiring Loom and Electronic Ignition ensure reliability along with New Brakes. a New Steering Rack and New Steel Wire Wheels fitted with Radial Tyres inspire spirited driving.
