Description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this early 6-cylinder Austin Healey BN-4 model. This car was just purchased from the state of Louisiana Where it was taken off the road 31 years ago in 1990 for a cosmetic restoration. It appears very complete with a fairly good body overall and is a pretty straightforward project.

The body on this car has been carefully stripped to bare metal, some repairs were made, and then etch-primed to protect the steel. It's a great base to build on for nice bodywork and paint. Panel gapping looks good with nice shutting doors. The car still has it's correct "peaked" early hood. Most chrome has been removed but is present. The windshield glass looks good and re-usable. It appears the original color was the desirable Healey Blue or Ice Blue, with most likely a navy blue interior and top.

The car's interior has been reupholstered in a biscuit vinyl which was probably done about 30 years ago. It presents decently overall. The car retains all of the correct instruments, seats, dash, top frame and sidecurtain assemblies, etc.

Underneath, the car looks very solid with a good straight frame. The car's engine bay looks very original and intact with it's correct 26 D engine fitted with the early galley head. The engine is stuck from sitting but was running fine when parked. It may free up with a good soaking of penetrant...IT's fitted with wire wheels and the overdrive gearbox.

There are some extra parts that go with the car.

Overall, a pretty decent and complete Austin Healey for straightforward improvement. These cars are becoming increasingly rare and this early 6-cylinder model presented here is modestly priced and quite possibly the best deal on the market.
