You don't see these over here that often. it's a 318 cubic inch (5. 2 litre) V8 Auto Dodge Dart Swinger pillarless coupe. manufactured August 1972 for the 1973 model year. It is tax exempt. I even have the USA title pink slip as i registered the car myself 12 months ago and am the first and only UK registered keeper. This is a very desirable car being a pillarless coupe. who wants a booring old mans 4 door saloon! The late 60's and early 70's cars are the ones to have. these are the ones that are going up in value fastest so are a great investment and you get the fun of driving around pretending to be Steve McQueen into the bargain. Just prior to me getting this car in April 2012 it had been used in the making of last summers Johnny Depp film Dark Shadows. The film is set in 1972 and hence the reason why they used cars of this period. I did go to see the film and i think i spotted it in a street scene. i was hoping it would be the star car but no luck there! The car comes from Palm Springs California. If you don't know where this is it is in the southern Californian desert full of rich people who have got fed up with L. A. This is possibly the best place to buy a car from in the whole of the USA. it almost never rains and the air is dry. People think that any USA car is a safe bet but many parts are damp. cold. humid. semi tropical and wet and cars from these places are just like old British cars. full of rot and patched up with filler. I have spent a lot of time in California and until you have been there and experienced just how good the old cars are underneath it is hard to believe. especially if you are used to british classics that usually needed welding repairs when they got to only 5 or 6 years old! The beauty of my car is that it has never been messed with. it is just an honest 41 year old car that has stood the test of time remarkably well. it apperas to be in its original coat of paint and although not mint the body is still respectable and carries a beautiful aged patina. Superb underneath. Why buy a car that has a shiny new paint job. i never would because i like to know what is going on beneath the paint. All those welded patches and rust hidden below layers of filler. frightening! With my car you know what you are getting so if you do want a shiny new paint job you will always know the true condition of the car and if you like it in all its original splendor as it is now then all the better. The interior is good also apart from the dash top which has suffered with the sun. The roof has also suffered with the sun beating down on it all those years. My intention was to sort it out and get a new covering but i havn't got around to it. I am only thinking of selling because i have had it 12 months and only done about 100 miles in it and have not even had it out of the garage since last September. I got it out today and took it for a spin and took the pictures you see here. It has 11 months free tax on it but the mot ran out on the 15th of May. I can't see getting a new mot a big deal as it has done almost no miles since the last mot and for the last mot i had various new bushes. ball joints. brake flexi hoses etc. I have removed the wiper operating arms beneath the dash as the little plastic bushes on them had gone slack. i have got some new ones but i haven't been able to fit them as i have hurt my back and can't be bending double upside down in the foot wells to re-install them. I have also removed the automatic choke unit. i have a cable i was going to replace it with but again i haven't got around to it although you could buy a new automatic unit as i think they only cost about £20. The kick down rod wants setting up correctly. it was going into top gear too late so i altered it and now it goes into top gear too soon . i have had it up to 90 on the clock and all was well!  It still starts up easily with a few pumps of the pedal to squirt plenty of fuel into the engine. you just have to sit there reving the engine until it is warm before you can set of without stalling. All whiteband tyres have virtually as new tread and i fitted 2 Cherry Bomb straight through silencers last summer and they sound awesome. loud and mean like a V8 should. So there we have it. a proper cool old classic that wants a bit of fettling but is a very sound base to start with if you are considering doing a concourse restoration. I know you can probably buy cheaper classic Yanks but cheap old sheds usually cost far more in the long run!  Come and have a look with pleasure. i would rather you view the car as peoples opinion of a 41 year old car can be very different from mine and i wouldn't want any dissapointment.  I am firm on my price. i don't see the point in advertising at a higher price than i am prepared to accept just so that someone can offer me less so that they feel they have done well getting a better deal. Pointless if you ask me. I want £7. 95 for the car. if you come and kick tyres and point out loads of faults and say it is going to cost to put right i will still want £7. 95 for it. This way we all know where we stand and the job is much more straightforward. I am located near Blackburn in Lancashire. about 5 miles from junction 31 of the M6 motorway. Postcode BB2 7ED. I will take cash or a deposit into my bank account. if into my bank the car will not be released until i have confirmation from my bank of the transaction. No cheques of any description. too many scammers and crooks out there!  You can always reach me on the telephone. 07711 685242. emails may not be responded to instantly as i am not on the computer every day. thanks.
