Authentic 1967 Mk1 Austin Cooper 1275S:  This Cooper S is verified authentic by both commission and body number. and also by the unique body and engine characteristics that only genuine examples possess.   BMIHT records show that it was completed on Dec. 23. 1966 and was dispatched to the USA on Jan 11. 1967.

History:  As stated above. the car is an original  US import.   It spent  most of it's early life in the Nevada desert.   It was brought to Vermont as a father/son project in the early 1990's  With interest lost. nbsp;it sat in storage at RPM in Vergennes VT until I purchased it in 2001.   The Cooper was brought back to near original standards over a 7 year period and was the Concours class winner at the British Invasion of Stowe in 2010.   Retired from competition. it has been an occasional driver since.

Body:  Except for some surface rust over primer during storage. it has never has any rust.   I has its original floors and sills. battery box and boot floor.   The right front fender and front panel were replaced with Heritage panels.   It was professionally re-sprayed here by Lyme Pond Restorations in Barnard VT using PPG Deltron base coat/clear coat in it's original almond green and old English white.   Although retired from shows to become an enthusiasts' drive. it is still outstanding in appearance and still could be successfully shown today.

Engine:  The is engine is a 9F-SA-Y 1275 S engine.   It well may be the car's original motor but in it's trip to the machine shop. the engine number plate was lost.   It is bored 40 over and  has 9. 5 to 1  compression AE Hepolite pistons and  an APT VY7 cam.   The crankshaft is a CAM 6232 Cooper/Metro.   Compression in each cylinder is at 170 lbs. except for #4 which is at 167.   A 12G940 11 stud head. the engine has less than 2500 miles since it was completely rebuilt.

Exhaust:  LCB header and a new RC 40 side exit system.

Suspension:  The car has its original hydrolastic suspension system with blue ring (extra stiff) displacers with completion bump stops at all four wheels.   It has always held its pressure and it stays at appropriate heights.

Gear box:  The gear box has been upgraded to a four syncro unit from a Mk2 Cooper.   It shifts smoothly but it was not rebuilt.   It is believed to have the 3. 44 standard diff.

Brakes:  7. 5 inch Cooper S.   Brake servo has been removed to facilitate easier ignition timing.  It will be included in the sale. but will need rebuilding.   Cooper S master cylinder was rebuilt. nbsp;as was the clutch master.

Bright Work:  Except for  small dent (pictured) in the original and installed rear bumpers and discoloration in the rear window chrome seal. all is in show condition.   New stainless rear bumper will be included in the sale.

Interior:  If there is work left to make the car completely original. it is in the interior.   Having said that. the interior is very presentable in Mk 1 white and gray.   The original porcelain and grey front seats are included with the sale.   The headliner is the car's original one and shows its age.   The Tachometer is disconnected and will need attention.   The butler light is a working period accessory.

Every effort was made to make the "S" as an original an example as  possible.   After market parts were used only when NOS or rebuilt original parts could not be reasonably sourced.   Many  knowledgeable Mini enthusiasts  have remarked about the originality of this car and how hard it is to find truly original examples of this car in any condition. let alone a car like this one.    However. please remember that this Cooper is nearly 50 years old.   No warrantees are given or implied and is sold "as is".

The car has a reasonable reserve price.     I will work with the buyer to facilitate shipping.   A $500 non-refundable deposit will be required with 48 hours of the end of the auction.   PayPal is acceptable for the deposit.  Please contact me is there are questions and ultimately on final payment arrangements.   Thanks for looking.
