I know you don't see one of these everyday. these were rare to see even when new. This one is currently in the hands of the parents of the woman that bought it new in Maryland. She was going to college and dad offered to buy her a car. this was her choice and he did it because she earned it with excellent grades. When she bought it the first dealership in Baltimore wasn't even completed. they didn't have the service dept. open yet. Anyone who knows the east coast. especially the MD/DC area knows you don't need to drive everywhere because of public transit so that's why the miles stayed so low. The car was babied by her and she took out on trips up/down the coast and even to Texas a time or two. I wasn't able to find out when it was painted but out still holds a good shine. the color was changed from the original red to the factory green. This is a nice original example that appears unmolested. It was shipped back here to her dad a few years ago because she moved to New York and parking was a big expense. She recently asked him to sell it and donate the money to their Church or the local American Legion. he is a Korean Vet and was a POW.
The engine is a German Ford V4. it was the first V4 to enter the American market in 1967 as a 1. 4L but was bumped up to a 1. 7 liter for the for emissions in 71 for the US market only. It puts out an impressive 65 hp @ 4700 rpm. The car was last driven regularly in 2003. it was started regularly up until a couple of years ago. When the car was shipped out here. her uncle got it running and drove it about 5 miles before parking it where it sits currently. I know there are no major leaks and it turns freely. it should run with a minimum of effort.
The interior looks great for original. other than the rear package tray that was replaced it all looks original. There is an AM/FM cassette stereo she had installed because I don't think it had a radio from the factory. It's unknown if all the gauges work but they are in very good condition. The headliner. dash. door panels are all in good shape and appear original. It's never been smoked in either.
The exterior of the car was repainted from the original red to the green you see. that is a factory color and the way it was painted appears to have been a good job. I was unable to find out when it was done but someone spent some time getting into areas that are usually missed in a color change. All Saabs were electrodip primed starting in 71 so that is why this body held up so well. I looked under the car and included several pictures under there to show that it is very clean. there is some surface rust. a little blistering in spots but I don't see any major issues. I think it could be cleaned up. sprayed with POR15 and re-undercoated without a large expense. All the doors. trunk and hood work properly and all the glass is in good shape.
I think I've described the car as I saw it and gave you the information so you can make an informed decision but if I missed something that you still need to know just let me know and I will be happy to find out. I also have additional pictures if you want to see more detail; just send me a question thru the system but make sure to send your e-mail address (with at instead of the symbol) because I can't send pics thru the eBay system efficiently.
There is no Buy-It-Now as you can see. if you want to bypass the auction process you will need to make an offer I can submit to the owner for approval. If your offer is acceptable a Buy-It-Now will be added. I have done many auctions that way. The reserve is set at what my research has determined to be current market value. please don't ask what the reserve is as it's not fair to the other bidders that are participating. I help my clients sell their cars for market value. they ask me what I think they'll sell for. I don't low-ball them and I research market values using as many as 10 - 20 sources so it's not pulled out of thin air. I may sound antagonistic but sometimes people try to tell me they know more about the market and I've actually seen the car in person so I have that advantage. My goal is simple. to get the clients on both sides of the deal a fair price where nobody feels they left money on the table.
There is no interest in any trades and I welcome inspections. the car is near by and can be viewed by appointment. The winning bidder will receive a New York title. clear of any liens. from the original owner. The title is in hand with the car. already signed and will be dated when sold. I can assist with arranging shipping to your location or make recommendations for shipping. of course it can be picked up in person after we have received funds. This car is located in Clovis a suburb on the east side of Fresno. CA.
Terms and Conditions Of The Auction
The winning bidder agrees to provide a $500 deposit within 24 hours of the close of the auction. the balance is due within 7 days. The balance is to be paid through a bank transfer. Please don't bid if your funds are not readily available. if you are applying for a loan please give the bank ample time for an inspection.
The auction is to purchase a car. the winning bidder is entering a contract to purchase this car and not to look it over after the purchase. please arrange any inspections before auction end. Ask all questions necessary to make a decision before auction end.

While every effort is made to provide complete and accurate information regarding each vehicle being auctioned. bidders are advised to rely upon their own research.
