EXTERIOR:

This 1978 Trans Am has been completely refinished in its original color. BLACK! The body is in very nice and rust free condition top to bottom. The Trans Am is proudly wearing a new gold Phoenix on the hood. all new gold pinstriping. and gold German lettering. All lights work as they should. all glass is in great shape. The Trans Am is sitting on a set of new "Honeycomb" wheels that are wrapped in a set of brand new 255/60-15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires all around. All of the ground effect pieces are present. The Trans Am has been fully restored to very nice quality top to bottom. I have included over 100 pictures of this beautiful Trans Am "Bandit Car" on my website. any of which are seen here with the listing. Check them out and dont hesitate to ask for additional pictures as needed.

INTERIOR:

The interior has been restored to very nice condition just like the exterior in its original color. BLACK. New parts include Lombardy/Hobnail seat covers. new carpet. new carpet underlay. new package tray. new radio bezel. new door sills. new weather stripping. new window felt both inner and outer. new power door lock actuators. and a new power window switch. The original gold dash bezel has been refurbished to like new condition. All guages work as they should including factory tach. speedometer. fuel gauge. voltage meter. temperature gauge. and oil pressure. Even the turn signal indicators. key minder buzzer. and gauge illumination all work. All the wiring was intact on the car and has not been "butchered" like so many of these old cars. The dash has not been cut and still houses the factory cassette player. It should also be noted that the power locks and power windows are in working order. Other new trim pieces include gold door panel birds. shifter bird. and steering wheel bird. This interior is smoke free condition. and has been fully detailed as can be seen in the pictures I have provided. Additional pictures are available upon request!

DRIVETRAIN:

During the restoration of this 1978 Trans Am. the 6. 6 L 400 ci V 8 was opened up to check for internal condition. All clearances were checked and verified to be within tolerance. the intake and valley pan were removed revealing very clean internals. and the exhaust manifolds were removed. showing very little carbon build up. When the car was purchased. the engine was said to be a low mileage engine. and after having seen the clean and tight condition of the internals. the low mileage statement certainly seems true. Whats more. the 400 runs out very well and does not use any oil. Upon completion the car was driven a short amount the oil and filter was changed. Since that point. there have been 4-500 miles put on the Trans Am with the only necessary maintenance being a new starter. which was replaced and a heat shield was installed to the new starter prevent further problems down the road. At time of inspection. all engine gaskets were freshened. and the carb was replaced with a refurbished 800 CFM Q-Jet from BFIC Carbs (correct front inlet carb). All fuel lines have also been replaced. In the months since the completion of the restoration. the Trans Am has also been treated to a new Air Conditioning set up. so yes. it has COLD A/C! May not be too important now. but wait till summer rolls around. you'll sure be glad its there!

This 1978 Pontiac Trans AM is an original 400 V 8 car as can ve verified by the fifth digit of the VIN (Z). but I will point out that the 400 ci V 8 currently in the Trans Am is not the original motor for the car.

The 3 Speed Automatic transmission was treated to a full flush. new fluids and a new filter. The transmission shifts just as it should with good solid shifts in all gears. The Trans Am has been updated with a complete new braking system including Master cylinder. proportioning valve. lines. shoes. pads. rear spring kits. wheel cylinders. front rotors. front calipers. Other new parts include new bushings for control arms. leaf springs. new leaf spring isolators. etc. The undercarriage was treated to a coat of rust defender. and then fully undercoated. Finally. the exhaust is perfectly completed with a set of new 40 Series Flowmaster Mufflers that exit out through factory style chrome quad tips. it gets no better than that for a real Trans Am fan!

Expect a very very nice and solid driver. not a showroom new car. This will be the perfect T/A to take to a show friday night. and not be afraid to take on a weekend trip the next day! These cars are among the most recognizable. and well liked cars in American automotive history. and they aren't getting any easier to find. especially in this condition!
