1987 Lincoln Continental Givenchy Designer Series Sedan 31K Original Miles for sale
Current customer rating: (411 votes ) based onUp for sale is my 1987 Lincoln Continental Givenchy Designer Edition with only 31. 00 original miles. The Autocheck score for this particular car is is between 15 and 36-THIS Connie scores a 41! I am selling it because I want another car to "play" with and this one has about everything done that I can do to it without hearing my wife complain anymore. I am also allowed only ONE toy at a time. so you know how it goes. Being a Givenchy Designer Series. the car has EVERY option except the moonroof and JBL sound system (but DOES have the Premium Sound upgrade). I purchased the car from the original owner. a 90-year-old lady who's husband had driven it before he passed away a few years ago. It was always garaged and never driven in winter (or often. as the miles attest to). When I received it. it was in all-original condition-even the original tires were still on it. Since purchasing it. I have had a few things done to improve appearance and functionality. When possible. nbsp;Motorcraft replacement parts were used and when not available. only high-quality name-brand aftermarket parts were purchased. They are as follows:
Transmission replaced (Original FoMoCo paper-element filter disintegrated and destroyed the original tranny). Entire unit replaced by a reputable company and has been trouble-free since day one. Paperwork for this will be included. All four shocks replaced (Original shocks had fluid leaks. as would be expected from age)-original airbags are mint (see closeup photos below)All belts. hoses. wires. plugs and fluids were changed)All four tires replaced (Bridgestone Turanzas) and 4-wheel alignment performedMuffler and entire RH side Y-Pipe exhaust replacedNew Calipers. rotors and brake pads (front and rear) as Ford was known for aged calipers locking upBoth rear window regulators replaced. as both rear windows were inop due to non-use-both front windows work flawlesslyPower Antennae replaced with a new OEM one (original stopped working after about a year)Front dash speakers replaced (Pioneers. but are concealed under the panel and cannot be seen)Air suspension dryer replaced (preventative measure)Front driver's side and passenger's side door power window control bezels replaced (originals had very minor marks on them)NOS grille shell. as the original was nearly perfect. but had a pretty good-sized rock peck that bothered me
The most major thing I had done was both the left and right sides repainted. The biggest reason is that over the years. the man's wife repeatedly dinged the car when opening her door. I just could not live with the very small pings on such an otherwise immaculate car. ONLY the sides were repainted and then cleared up to the roof-line. The Givenchy Designer series had a unique 5-color pinstripe that could not be duplicated or purchased anymore so the professional shop where the work was performed took it on as a special project-if you look closely. each individual color stripe was painted. sanded. then clear-coated until all five color stripes were again in original appearance. The body shop referred to this process as "burying" the pinstripes. You cannot feel the stripes at all when you run your hand over the body. but they are there. I was impressed. You can also see that the trunk still retains the original sticker-type stripes with "G" logos. The sides were. of course. repainted in the original color and the job was done correctly.
Of course. the car is not perfect-no old car that has actually been driven is. but I think you will see by the 100-plus photos below that it is in outstanding. gently-used condition and I can voice that it has been a real pleasure to own and drive. The interior is simply fantastic and looks as if it has never seen any use-even the Givenchy floor-mats are in great condition and the Givenchy umbrella in the trunk looks as if it was never opened. The ONLY detractor that I would get right on are some stains/spots on the trunk carpet (see photos-bottom mat only is affected-near the trunk opening). Who would want a car that is 100% perfect. no fun. right?
Everything on the car works perfectly-from the mechanical (!) auto-dim rear view mirror. right down to the ABS system. The AC and heat work perfectly and the HVAC STILL has R-12 in it and does not leak a bit and blows COLD-colder than R134 can in my humble opinion. All windows. mirrors. trunk pulldown motor. switches. seats. EVERYTHING electrical works properly.
Feel free to ask any questions-I will do my very best to answer questions quickly.
