PREVIOUS TV STAR OWNED - NO RESERVE! for sale
Current customer rating: (392 votes ) based onIt is one of only 93 built between 1950 and 1952. and so is a very rare and collectible automobile. I have been told the Queen still maintains on of these rare Sedans in her fleet. and it is among her favourites.
This Hooper coach design won the Institute of British Carriage Builders and Automobile Manufacturer's first prize in 1950. The body is a hand built all aluminum over over oak masterpiece. The car is unrestored except for a repaint in the original colours in the late 80's. The body and interior would be rated 2 and 3. (Very good condition considering its age. )
A previous owner was Robert Clothier. "Relic" in the great TV series. the Beachcombers. With the purchase of the car. comes documentation of an appraisal with pictures of the car. and Mr. Clothier enjoying his beauty. There is also extensive documentation of his pursuit of a new (rebuilt) gearbox from England.
Some of the special features of the car is it's low overall height and curved windscreen. double sealing around all of the doors. and a roof specially insulated against heat. Also special is the manual turn indicators which extend out from the door posts. The interior has beautiful Doeskin Connelly leather and shows the patina of the years. but is in very usable condition. The carpeting is Biscuit Wilton wool. The wood trim is Australian Camphor wood. and is beautiful. All of the glass is in good shape. and the windows go up and down properly. Even the four window vents work smoothly and latch securely. All of the doors open and close properly. nbsp;except the left rear door sags a little when opened. but closes securely. The bright work is all there and in very good condition. Only the trunk (boot) handle and the grille have minor pitting.
The car was part of a fine collection and driven regularly until 1999. when the engine commenced smoking. and because of my time requirements. I was unable to secure a qualified repair facility to deal with it. As of now. it does not run at all. and being located in the Canadian Rockies. I have been unable to find a proper shop to make the repairs to the engine. I know that it has bent push rods. but do not know of other problems in the engine. On moving the car the last time. it appears that some of the brakes are dragging. and will need to be cleaned up before driving. They were working fine prior to parking the car in storage.
I love the car. and have considered putting modern running gear in it. but feel that with it's class and heritage. that to alter it would not be appropriate. I am seeking a caring collector of British Motors who will take the car and treat it as it deserves. and who will enjoy this truly beautiful classic as it should be.
I am selling the car with NO RESERVE. with a very low entry fee.
Transportation will be purchaser's responsibility. but I will be happy to assist with loading it.
Successful bidder shall make a deposit of $1. 00. 00 by Paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Balance to be paid by wire transfer within 7 days of close of auction.
If you have any questions. please feel free to communicate with me through Ebay. and I will respond as soon as I am able.

Hello, love the Daimler. Do you have any photos of the dash, engine bay, and in side the trunk. Does the motor still turn. Thank you.
