Volkswagen Champagne Edition HISTORY
The Champagne Edition II convertibles were only produced a single year (1978) and available only in two single-year colors; Ancona Blue Metallic and Peach Red Metallic. That year. each dealer was allotted only two of the Champagne II models and the cars were quickly gobbled up by excited consumers and knowledgeable buyers who knew Volkswagen was nearing the end of its convertible beetle production.
In early sales. the Ancona Blue Metallic was a more popular color making the Peach Red Metallic the rarest of the two. It is estimated that only 272 of the Limited Champagne Edition II were made worldwide (source: Barrett Jackson. com).
