This Karman Ghia was originally special ordered in 1974 by my grandmother's best friend. She was a big Ghia fan, and when she found out VW was ending production, she decided she had to get one more. This is literally one of the last Karmann Ghia's ever made! She drove the car sporadically for a few years, and then parked it her garage for the next 40 years, where it stayed until she passed away. It only has 66, 616 original miles!When I bought the car from her estate, I got it back into running condition (I've been a VW mechanic for almost 20 years). The fuel tank, the battery, and the alternator were replaced, along with the tires. I also flushed all the fluids. Otherwise, it's all mechanically original. The engine has never even been pulled out! This Ghia is amazingly straight, and very few are in such pristine condition. The floor pans and rocker panels are perfect, no rust whatsoever! The car does/did have a couple issues- There was a slight dent on the nose (there was stuff stacked on the front half of the car in the garage), so I had it repaired and the front section repainted to match the original color. The battery tray has some rust on it from the original 1970's battery, which was leaking during the decades the car was being stored, which hasn't been addressed yet. Also, the original upholstery is very dry. The driver seat has a crack/tear in the material on the bottom, and the vinyl on the rear shelf has shrunk and is wavy. It debatably needs some upholstery work, but I preferred to leave it original, and let the new owner decide to replace or not. Otherwise, this car is a near perfect original specimen from the last year of production. You will not find a cleaner Ghia! I will include all the original service records that came with the car.
