Well. well. A really early Allegro (are the early ones of every make and model not the best ones?) and a 1500 SDL as well! And yes. it's within the first year of production and it features the iconic quartic steering wheel.

This stunning 40-year-old survivor has travelled just 29. 00 miles and has a full history to back that up. She drives as if she were new and the whole feel of the car is fresh. tight and responsive.

These rare Mark 1 s have the best features. Here's a few: THAT steering wheel. chrome bumpers. chrome wipers. the best looking grille and back lights of all Allegro models. the best dash. the best clocks. the best seats (certainly in the case of this rare 1500 SDL. etc. etc.

Her Harvest Gold paintwork - how evocative of the era - is outstanding and she is rot and rust free with no signs of any repairs nor any welding anywhere including the underneath. She was "Zeibarted" at new and still carries the original dealer's sticker in the rear window.

She has the 5-speed box. which most Allegros did not at this early stage of production. and she runs superbly.

The navy interior is practically faultless (The wheel is navy too!!) and she has to be the best Allegro I have owned. And I have had countless of them!

Now totally retro. curvaceous. so 70 s and so BL front-wheel drive. she is almost too good to be true. Does everything go full circle? They were saluted. derided and now finally saluted again. Context is all. What an outstanding survivor this is.
