1971 Mercedes Benz 280 SL. Documented 63,000 Mile No Damage History for sale

1971 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL. This is a numbers matching. original panel. no body damage. no rust and documented mileage car with factory cosmaline still visible on the undercarriage and factory crayon marks in various locations such as the headlight buckets. Continuous ownership history back to the original selling invoice.
The car was sold by its first owner in late 1972 with just under 20. 00 miles.
The second owner sold the car in 1997 at 45. 00 miles. The third and current owner sold the car to a friend in 2002 at 50. 00 miles and then repurchased the car from his friend in 2011 at 62. 00 miles. The car was repainted in 1997 by the current owner as the original clear coat was cracking.
The body was stripped to bare metal including the removal of the engine. all glass. all chrome and all rubber and repainted as delivered from the factory. The body still features beautiful paint with no chips or damage of any type. panels that are absolutely straight and flat and perfect gaps.
All exterior and interior chrome is original and is in very good condition. The soft top was replaced in 1997 and is in very good condition as well.
Interior work included refinishing the wood as it was dry. new leather for the seats as they were cracking. new leather for the top of the dash as it was shrinking and new carpets.
The car still has many of the original factory stickers. not reproductions. The car has always been maintained and never required any major mechanical work such as an engine rebuild.
The car includes the jack. tools and manuals. The only flaws of this car are the incorrect firewall pad. the headrests being recovered without their vents and the removal of the air conditioner unit by the current owner. Unlike most 280 SL's this car has been regularly driven and well cared for its entire life.
