1939 FORD THAMES PANEL DELIVERY TRUCK for sale
Current customer rating:
Selling my 1939 Thames project. I just don't have the time or space to complete the rod. It basically is an all steel English Ford that is an original left hand drive truck. It was a street rod that I think was built in the early '80's. From what I can tell the rod has a Mustang 2 front end. a shortened 12 bolt GM rear. a 1978 GM 400 cu. in. small block coupled to a turbo 400 tranny. Has power brakes too. Previous owner filled the roof and put a vynel top on.
Since I bought it 4 years ago. I tore the entire interior out and rebuilt the floors. I put in an oak floor in the rear and carpet is up front. The body was insulated and covered in 1/4" plywood. On that I put tan & black upholstery. The truck has a new wiring system installed along with a Vintage Air mini heater only. I also put in a Lokar shifter. I modified a dash from a '38 ford and mounted that with a '32 polished gauge cluster. Put a tach where the clock went. Has a new stereo to go in. Truck has 4 speaker system installed along with power windows. There are 2 nice yellow / black FX racing bucket seats inside. Tilt GM wheel.
Mechanically. it has a custom aluminum gas tank. the front end was rebuilt with new coil springs to hold the 400's weight. new rotors and pads. bearings and shocks. The rear end had the lube changed and the air shocks checked. The motor runs well. the Carter AFB carb was rebuilt and sits on an aluminum manifold. The water pump is aluminum too.
The truck has some blemishes and looks great from a distance. It still draws attention. Mostly the truck needs the interior completed. The rear tires are some big ole Mickey Thompson rubbers with some Tiger Paws up front.
This would make for a great project yet it can be driven around while working on it. I will be out of town the first week of June but will be able to answer questions. Any picture requests will be filled when I get back. Thanks for looking.
