Volkswagen Low Light Karmann Ghia 1958 Black for sale

This car is a one family owned car from new. It comes with the original bill of sale. service book (stamped up to 57K). The car has covered approx 62K. The original handbook. black plate with the original dealer plates surround.  

This Ghia was imported from the USA in April 2013 where it was dry stored. Two months ago we recomissioned the car. The work carried out was a brake overhaul. with flexi hoses front and rear. brake shoes on rear and new brake cylinders all around. The electrics have been overhauled and now all the lights work and the rebuilt wiper motor works a treat.  

Engine 
The car came to me with a late 60s engine that sounded like a skeleton playing the drums in a biscuit tin. We installed a sweet period 50s motor in. I have driven this approx 40 miles since fitting to the car and it runs very nice.  

Gearbox 
The car has an early 60s box fitted. although not period correct it works perfectly. the change is very smooth and i feel its a great upgrade for the car. I think the last old boy who had the ghia made a few mods to pep it up. like the late engine and box and a large anti roll bar fitted up front.  

Floorpan 
Very solid and original and all it needs is a small patch where it has been caught at some point in its life. the size of your small fingernail. Other than that it needs nothing. If you scrape the factory under seal off you can see the black shiny paint.  

Body 
If I was to be very picky. it needs the front wing bottoms doing either side(if you were going concourse). this i feel is not necessary if using as a daily driver. The bulkhead has rotted through. this looks to have happened with water getting through a broken seal. I do have a spare bulkhead with the car. These are the two places that need attention but i would rather address these than a full Karmann Ghia weld up than on a less solid car.  

Interior 
Seats are original (see pics) but do as you will? Headliner is nice and original and the waffle sun visors are perfect. Dash is uncut with factory cigar lighter and period radio fitted. Original wheel is complete and in fair condition. Front and rear door cards are original and will clean up well.  

Overview 
The car is very solid and drives well but needs a little bit of love and a few bits here and there. This is the most solid gear i have ever owned. A true survivor.
