The Conquest saloon was released to the public in 1953 as a
replacement for the Daimler Consort. but was shorter and lighter. br/>with better performance. The Daimler Conquest was meant to be an
affordable Daimler. priced at £1066. It was a pedigree with pace. br/>at a reasonable price and still had luxurious. well-appointed
traditional wood-grain and leather interiors. Actual construction
was by another BSA subsidiary. 'Carbodies'. The open two-seater
Conquest Roadster first appeared at the Motor Show in 1953 with the
tuned engine later known as the Century engine. The Roadster was
not available to the public until 1954. The Daimler Conquest
Century. released in 1954. was the best seller of the range with
4818 produced and boasted 100 horsepower and. presumably downhill. br/>100 miles per hour; hence the Century. However. the Roadster was
dropped from production in 1955 as the dropheads had outsold them
by over 3:1. At the 1955 Motor Show a new drophead 4-seater and a
drophead coupé version of the two-seater Roadster were introduced.
This Mk. II Conquest Roadster drophead coupé had a sideways-facing
single rear seat. making the car a two or three seater and with
wind-up side windows in place of the clip-on side-curtains of the
continuing Mk. II open two-seater Conquest Roadster.

This 1956 Daimler Conquest Century DJ254 is one of the 54 Mk. II
roadsters built with three seats and wind up windows and was
purchased in the early 2000's as a restoration project but not
started until 2005 when the car changed ownership. The vendor
purchased the car last year. half restored. from the previous
owner's estate. When he started to finish the restoration he found
that it had not been carried out to his standard so he has redone
what he felt was necessary. Finished in maroon and cream with
matching interior. it is supplied with a V5C registration document. br/>an MoT test certificate which expires in February 2015 and
photographs of the car when it was discovered. This is an
opportunity to purchase a rare Daimler which was the last model
directly influenced by Lady Docker.
