We brought this race car up to our restoration shop from the South West recently.

The seller said this car was a 4 speed car and was raced in Texas for many years by an older gentleman. who . when he had a leg problem. changed it to a high performance automatic .

The seller said he planned to go roadracing. but had to change his plans. and sold me the car

Car has not been raced recently but won't take much.

350 cu in.

GM performance 4 bolt main block. 1970 LT 1 camel hump heads. Crane roller rockers. Moroso cast aluminum valve covers and deep oil pan. GM performance serpentine belt set up. Weiand intake. Holley DP. Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator. Electric fuel pump and fan. MSD 6 AL ignition. MSD hei distributor. MSD wires. High torque mini starter. Hooker super comp side pipe headers. K&N filter

Custom radiator and front air intake (no stock core support).

Built auto trans with custom trans cooler placed in air intake. 4 speed pedal still in car.

Posi rear end (gear ratio unknown)

Aftermarket rack n pinion steering

Quick disconnect steering

Racing seat with 5 point harness. 5 point roll cage. Fuel cell.

Bart 15 x 10 racing wheels (6 wheels total). Pretty new Hoosier TD racing tires (26. 5 x 9. 5 rear. 25 x 10 front)

Full removable aftermarket Daytona style front end. Big block hood.

Race dash with full switch panel. push button start. Aftermarket Oil. Water. Volt. and tach gauges all work. Master battery on/off.

Body overall is decent. Does have some minor bad spots here and there but it is a race car. Currently plasti-dipped matte black. Passenger door glassed shut. Drivers door works as normal.

He pretty much covered it well. except for the motor. turned out to be a 383 stroker

The car is a very well thought out racer from the early days .

when it was a 4 speed and 327 or 350 cu inches.

We put a new master cylinder. and new dated 5 point belts in it . changed the oil and checked the brakes. and all . he fluids. etc and took it to TGPR for some laps for an assessment.

Car ran strong. handled good. and had no bad habits.

Everything went well. until one piston grenaded (was a GM cast HC dome) leaving just the rod and wrist pin.

We have just removed and torn down the motor. and the block is junk.

but we did find that it was a super well built motor that appears to be built about 2005 using the best stuff available but should have had forged pistons.

It had very little time on it . due to the owners age and poor health.

This is a a good restoration project. . it is available now. until we start work on it.

It can easily be retuned to a 4 speed car. as the clutch pedal is still there.

We found a number on the roll bar and got a replacement logbook.

The roll bar needs modification. but the car otherwise passed 2014 Annual Tech
