VW Kombi Lowlight Microbus 1972 in Hope Valley, SA

Selling my beloved 1972 Kombi Lowlight Micorbus "Karl". Owned last 15 years. has been my daily drive for most of this time. garaged last 6 years. In it's time it has been a wedding car. winery tour bus. surfing safari camper. music festival carriage and has taken me all the way to the top of Mount Hotham. Unfortunately I no longer have the space to store her. or the time or skill to get her into top shape again. Really torn to see her go but my sister-in-law wants it gone from her driveway! Last registered 11 months ago. drivable but needs some work as it has been sitting some time.

The Good bits:
8-seater Microbus Lowlight. The "Lowlights" are fast becoming a highly desirable model!
Original rear seats with woven vinyl covering (some tears in the vinyl)
Front cloth bucket seats
Original rubber floor mats front. centre and rear (auto carpet shown in pics is just laid on top and easy to remove)
1800cc Twin carby engine. Replaced with 2nd hand engine about 4yrs ago.
Straight body with very little rust (some small spots around the windows)
Mag wheels (painted)
Original owner's manual
Tow bar fitted
Curtains for beach-side privacy
Old school AM/FM cassette player. How retro!
Leather wrapped steering wheel (oh so sporty!)

Work done:
gearbox mounts
replaced ball joints
CV boots
Muffler and tail pipe
Tie rod ends
Rear torsion bars
Reconditioned starter motor
motor replaced
carbies serviced
new foam surround for engine bay
accelerator cable
clutch cable
Front and rear shocks
Rear brake wheel cylinders
Front disk brake rotors and master cylinder
gearshift coupling blocks
Always serviced/repaired by specialist VW mechanics (have receipts)

Work that needs doing:
Low compression. likely cylinder head
Battery - has one from the wreckers but is on it's last legs
Needs new tires
Been sitting for some time. brakes will need a re-haul
Heater box gaskets need attention. some exhaust leakage
Steering box worn out - a bit of free play in the steering wheel
Driver's side window winder needs replacing
Auto choke not working
Paint job is rough. but adds to the "Love Bus" appeal! Could probably do with a respray.
Accelerator pedal mount has come away from the floor. Has been part repaired with a hinge mount but requires welding.

Kombi is running and can be driven onto a car trailer for transport. however I would not recommend driving very far without getting the brakes done and a good service. Speedo shows 96119. however it has a 2nd hand replacement motor. Currently un-registered. can be re-registered after sale at the buyers expense (SA registration. $179 for 3 months). No RWC (not required for SA rego!). Inspection prior to auction end welcome. Pickup only from Hope Valley. SA. Can assist with loading onto car transport. No pickup until funds are cleared. Cash on Pickup or Direct Deposit preferred.
