Model 73, series 19A for sale
Current customer rating: (284 votes ) based onThe Ford Motor Company introduced the Mercury line to America in 1939 touting it's luxury features and fuel economy. This car is a rare and beautifully restored 1941 Mercury 4-door Town Sedan. model 73. 19A. It was restored in 2010 by master restorer Herb Kliem of Stafford. Texas. who still owns and drives the car. The odometer shows 77. 37 miles; however. it has only been driven about 3. 00 miles since the frame-off restoration was completed.
It has a Flathead model 59AB V-8 engine. which is the correct engine for the car. but not the engine that came in it. It is 3 speeds on the column with a dealer installed 354 Columbia overdrive rear-end. which is correct for the 1941 Mercury. There is virtually no rust on the car. During restoration the frame was repainted with enamel and as the picture shows is in excellent condition. All of the stainless bright work was flash chromed during restoration. All the gauges work on the car. Comes with the original owner's book and a dealer's brochure on the 1941 Mercury.
The only non-factory items are vintage AC. which works well. a conversion to 12v with an alternator instead of a 6v system with generator. dual exhaust with Smitty mufflers. turn indicators and electric windshield wipers.
The car is complete with the exception of not having a heater or a radio.
The appearance. fit. and finish are as good as it gets for a 1941 Mercury. The exterior is a beautiful North Atlanta Blau and the interior is model correct Grey in pristine condition.
It is a very comfortable pre-war luxury sedan that is ready to be driven on rallies or tours.
