Another very reluctant sale from my collection but storage space and needs must.I absolutely love these cars I had a 600 which I used every day for 3 years and believe these 129 s are the best engineered cars ever made, build quality is another level let alone for a car that is circa 30 years old. They are certainly the most reliable cars I've ever owned. This 280 has been well looked after and is no exception. A desirable pre-facelift in the most wonderful colour scheme with the classic 24 v straight 6 this is quite literally the prettiest 129 SL I've ever seen, in Beryl Blue with darker metallic blue/cream hardtop to match the dark blue piping on the cream leather seats and cream interior. It's a stunning car and presents very well indeed. Photos don't do the colour justice. New advisory free MOT - I have just had a new Pilkington glass windscreen fitted with correct dark blue/green top tint. It has 5 x original 14 hole alloys which have not been refurbed.Paint quality on these is simply incredible, a few blemishes but overall amazing. Interior is very good. Drives perfectly. All suspension bushes etc were renewed 2 years ago. Fresh MOT and fully serviced this week and ready to go. Engine runs so smooth and (earlier bullet-proof switchable 4 speed) gearbox sublime too. Fabulous to waft about in and kicks down nicely - it's always fast enough and so enjoyable to drive roof up or down. Attracts very positive attention, everyone wants to say something nice about the SL.Soft top operation is perfect and fully on the button - also in dark blue - is original and is not perfect had some wear and the plastic windows have shrunk and need restitching/replacing but it remains pretty watertight in all conditions and in any case I don't intentionally use it in the rain and I have priced the car to reflect the imperfections.Lovely useable classic SL, ready to go.Happy to discuss by phone with serious buyers
