Austin 7 SEVEN SPEEDEX sports special racer MOT and Tax EXEMPT super rare

This auction is for a 1935 Austin 7 Speedex aluminium bodied car. fully road worthy . tax and MOT exempt. Its been mainly used to drive to work at least once a week for last 2 years. It is pre war eligible and has completed at both Butts Quarry and Cobham hillclimbs this year but is really for road use as they were not designed as trials machines! BYK 420 has both the original buff log book and a V 5 C and the reg number is transferable and worth over £1000. The body and rolling chassis was purchased 3 years ago after being in storage since the late 1960's. the original speedex body and frame has been stripped and painted but all small dints left in. the aluminium body is very light and can easily be lifted off by one person.

Frame was stripped and painted and all new bushes. engine fitted is the stronger 2 bearing type and valves were re ground. ew clutch and over £1000 of parts brought and fitted. ave receipts including a re cored speedex radiator at £257!. Other Speedex parts are speedex high compression aluminium cylinder head. peedex inlet manifold . genuine Speedex 3 ft 10" track front springing with all new bushes and new dampers. front and rear . Bowdenex cable brakes and a host of extras including electric fuel pump. ater pump and fan.

Also has option of either current alternator or can convert back to existing dynamo and control box. upplied. but the current arrangement uses a permanent magnet alternator which is excellent. The speedex is much lower than the usual standard austin sports special as the rad is a smaller affair well ventilated in the nose cone. o overheating problems at all. Done just over 1000 miles since engine installation and two hill climbs with the Pre War Austin 7 club but its lower height means it should really be used on the track and road. It also comes with two cast alloy genuine speedex wheels with excellent tyres. It is currently on the correct and very hard to find 15" austin spoked wheels with good tyres 4. 25 x 15 Pirelli aerflex on front and 5. 60 x 15 Pirelli Extraflex on rear. they are old but not cracked and look the part. It is missing one of the 4 fake spin on wheel covers but they are easily available.

Has excellent 4 speed gearbox with a very rare gear lever extension. pring loaded. a one off and very efficient but i would say that as I fabricated it from solid alloy. In last two years it has had new front and rear shocks. rake shoes all around. xle rebild . econ statrter motor. ngine mounts. ilencer and new SU fuel pump. Carb is a Zenith 26 Vme and works very well with no backfiring or missing. t also has the recommended Bosch distributor. ew. so no more points scatter. Manifold is a 4 into 1 and runs neatly inside engine bay. Floor and all panels are aluminium . ts so light I can easily manover it around. The switchgear is mainly austin and the fuel gauge and voltmeter are modern. It has an alloy fuel tank and space for tools and spare fuel in a space behing drivers seat. Seats and bases are waterproof foam and laminated bases so dont mind getting wet. Its a lovely car with an aged appearance and can keep up in normal traffic but would stay on the B roads to appreciate the handling etc. Two seater and will fit a 6 footer no problem. I have a single axle trailer with spare tyre which i built from a caravan trailer specifically for this car( or any austin 7 )should you not wish to drive it home. this would be available for £250 .

I could also help and deliver on said trailer subject to fuel payments but only after sale completed and within 100 miles of Southampton. My children want a trials car not an Original Speedex road car and so she has to go as I dont have space for both. or the funds.
