Lotus Elite
There are several generations of the Lotus Elite. The Lotus Elite Type 14 produced from 1957 to 1962. During this time the light went out a little more than 1000 cars.
The Lotus Elite Type 14 - this ultra lightweight coupe with independent suspension of all wheels. A small weight (504 kg) in combination with good aerodynamics allowed even in spite of the relatively low power of the engine Coventry-Climax (75 HP. / 55 kW) to develop a speed of 190 km/h, which, of course, more than is good for those years. Master drive - rear, the most common was a 4-speed manual gearbox. The Lotus Elite Type 14 characterized by the highest reliability of all components, which allowed 6 times to win the race of Le Mans in its class.
The Lotus Elite Type 75, and later Lotus Elite Type 83 produced from 1974 to 1982. Application of glass-fibre in the manufacture of the body and aluminum in the development of an engine provided a small mass of the vehicle (1160 kg). The most typical was the mechanical chetyrehskorostnaya gearbox, only some models, issued after January 1976, received the machine. The Lotus Elite to the 1980 equipped with a 2-liter engine Straight capacity of 160 HP., from 1980 till 1982 was established modified Straight with the volume of 2243 cm3 and a power of 165 h.p.
