This car was re-listed because the sale fell through the last time.

For sale is my 1975 Triumph TR-6.   This was my daily driver for many years in the mid until late 1980's.   I did a LOT of work to this car when I did have it.   I rebuilt all of the suspension bushings. replaced the U-joints. re-packed the bearings. new brake pads. new top dash and crash pads on dash. headers. Monza dual exhaust. fuzzy door seals. etc.   I stripped the outside paint on the car around 1987-ish and got it repainted back to the original British Racing Green.   The paint is faded now though and oxidized.    You can't see that work now and it is getting on 30 years ago but it has not been driven since about 1989.   Wife. kids. work all got in the way of getting it back to driving condition. The car has a clear Title.    I do not want to sell the car to an International buyer nor have it shipped to an international buyer.

The car only broke down on me twice in the 8 or 9 years that it was my daily driver.   The first breakdown was the oil pressure sensor blew on the highway between Charlotte. NC and Raleigh. NC.   Quite the mess but I pulled over immediately and got a lift in to town to get the part.   I replaced the part on the road and kept driving.   The second time was the clincher.   I was driving to work and one of synchro gears in the gearbox snapped.   I heard it go and immediately pulled off the road.   I got a rebuilt gearbox but never got around to fixing it.

The speedometer was replaced in the mid 1980's.   I can't recall now what happened.   Obviously it broke and was not worth fixing but the replacement is exactly like the original. a Smiths and was brand new at the time.   As I recall the car had around 70k+/- miles on it when it died.   The title lists "120. 00*" miles.   When it was titled the last time I explained to the DOT agent that the speedometer had been replaced.   They asked me how many miles were on the old odometer.   I knew the exact mileage at the time but have since forgotten. but it has 40. 50 now so it had around 70K when the speedometer was changed.

I do have the brake servo unit.   It is missing in the photographs.   I also have the driver's seat.   I took it out to show the floorboards.   I do not have the original exhaust manifold as I saw no need to keep it when I replaced it with header pipes.   The car is also missing the original air pump unit. a totally worthless add-on in the early days of emissions control.   Most people took them off as all they did was rob power and hurt gas mileage.   Except for the headlights. all of the external lights/lenses are original and not too faded.

I replaced the front and rear springs (and shocks to I think) with competition springs when I re-bushed the suspension many years ago.   So. no sag in the rear end!

I have another TR-6. a 1971 that is my current daily driver.   Yes. you heard that right.   I live in the desert and a 42 year old British Roadster is my daily driver.   I had all of the greatest intentions of rebuilding this 1975 TR-6 with my two sons. but that just is not going to materialize.   Bummer. I had dreams for this car.

The Bad News:

This is a project car and does not drive.   It does not have working brakes.   The motor has not been started in many years.   The tires are Redlines but are old and cracking.   There is no interior.   The seats are original but need to be re-built.   The motor was a strong girl in her day but really needs to be re-built as well.   The driver's door window got broken by my kids while playing basketball in our driveway.   The top needs to be replaced.   The center dash support is missing.   It was stolen many years ago when the car sat in my driveway while I was replacing the clutch over a weekend.   That really irritated me…to no end.   Luckily. they can be had for not much money but they will be aftermarket but will look like the original.   The gear box is not attached to the car. nor is the driveshaft.   I have the original gear box that went bad as well as the re-built gear box and drive shaft.   They will ship loose with the car.   The car will steer and roll only and the hand brake will not hold the car in place.

The Good News:

There is pretty much just superficial rust except for a small pencil eraser sized hole next to the seam where the left rear quarter panel meets the left top deck panel (where the gas cap is).   The car has remained covered and has spent the last two years in the Arizona desert.   It's first lifetime was spent in North Carolina where there is little salt on the roads and cars generally don't rust that much.   All of the places that are notorious on TR-6's for rotting are in good shape (body panel seams. battery ledge. trunk. floorboards. etc).   It has all of the original body panels and has never been wrecked…not even a fender bender.   The hood and trunk lid are in really great shape for a car this old.   The trunk lid does have the four small screw holes where the luggage rack had been mounted.  The door panels have the usual minor door dings but new door skins are easy to get.   The motor. gearbox and differential are the original parts.   All of the gauges should work.   They all worked when it was last driven.

In the day. this car was a strong driver.   It was reliable and when I bought it. I had looked at no less than 18 or 19 other TR-6's in my area before I bought this one.   It was a blast to drive for many years!  I think I am the third owner of the car.

I have a brand new wooden dash for the car that I bought from the Roadster Factory.   It's as close to an original dash as one can get.   As I stated earlier. I also have the original gearbox as well as the rebuilt gearbox that has never been mounted to the car.

If you want a car that will be drive-ready in a few weekends this is not the car.   If you want an all original. no major dents or dings or rust TR-6 for a project car. this is your car.   All parts for these cars are very readily available and not expensive…. considering.   The photos clearly show the real condition of the car.   Look at them closely and if you have any specific questions just message me through eBay.   I'll be happy to answer them.   I can also provide more photos but there will be a turn-around time for that.

One last thing.   All I did was wash the car.   I did not buff. wax. Armor-All or do anything to the paint. under the hood or trunk.   What you see is what you get.   The paint on the sides of the car is still sort of "shiny" but it is also oxidized slightly.   The hood and trunk more so. obviously.

International Bidders:

I cannot sell or ship outside of the continental United States.

Payment:

Payment should be made by wire transfer but if payment is by check. it must be a certified bank check drawn off a US domestic bank and the car will not ship until the funds clear.

Shipping:

This is important! I cannot sell or ship the car to an International buyer.   The buyer arranges for and pays for shipping from Paradise Valley Arizona to their desired location.   Once the car is picked up I am not responsible for the well-being or damage to the car from shipping.   Remember. this car does not have a working motor or brakes.  The buyer should declare that to the shipping company to avoid any unpleasant circumstances when they show up to pick up the car and cannot drive it onto a truck.  Local Pick-up is strongly recommended.
