1964 Mk2 MG Midget Part Restored

This car has undergone a major restoration over the last few years which needs finishing. Due to lockdown and ill health I've reprioritised my projects and this has to be passed on to someone for an easy winter project ready for the spring/summer. V5 is in my name. Starting price reflects the work done to date £5k plus.

This car was so said restored a few years prior to me purchasing it, but this was a patch up and not a good one at that so the work done now has undone all that as summarised below with majority of the parts bought from Moss.

This car has the original 1098cc engine that has been fully rebuilt with new pistons, shell bearings and timing chain. It has been blasted and coated in period colour. The clutch is new and engine runs but needs a little recommissioning before starting up again. Fully refurbished twin SU's with new fuel pump fitted and stainless steel exhaust throughout.

The hood which is new but not been fitted would come off and go in the boot along with the hood frame rods. In addition I have purchased a tonneau in the same colour as the hood but again needs fitting but that is straight forward. The car still has the hood supplied with the car when I bought it, useable but I was making this a good resto.

The body shell has had a number of panels replaced rather than patched up. Some of the work done was:

Front valance,

New inner sills,

New floors,

Bulkhead side panels,

Lower wing repair sections including repair sections to the inner wheel arches.

Car was then painted inside and out including the underside.

New petrol tank which has been powder coated.

This was the prettier midget supplied with all the chrome work, the strips are new but have not been fitted. Bumpers were re-chromed but need checking they haven't started pitting.

Suspension

New leaf springs

Front springs and wishbones,

New kingpins.

5 new wire wheels with tyres fitted and balanced

Interior

New carpets including the boot from Coverdales

New door, foot well and rear panels replaced in blue with white piping as are the seats. 

Dash board blasted and recoated in crinkle finish as original.

New wiring loom with all new lights and indicators. Wiring installed by a professional auto electrician. 

The last few years it's sadly been left under cover due to illness and Covid lockdowns. I've recently purchased a vintage sports car and have reprioritised my projects. Sadly this is lower priority and therefore up for sale for someone else to finish off and enjoy as a winter project ready for the spring\summer. As can be seen the hard work has been done.

Price condition and bidding

Please don't bid if you are not going to buy it or bid for a friend because this causes all sorts of issues with eBay and others that are looking at the car. I have set the start price well under the value of the work done to date with the hope of recovering some of the money spent to date.
