1979 VW Beetle Karmann Cabriolet - 2 Owners - Very Original

1979 Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet. 2 Owners. 69000 miles.
For sale is my original Beetle Karmann Cabriolet. 1600cc. and finished in its original ‘River Blue Metallic' paint. Complete with all original handbooks. service and warranty booklet stamped by the original supplying dealership – West Side VW. MN. USA.
Original Left hand drive car (LHD) as produced at the factory.
Its factory fitted 1585cc engine Bosch Fuel injection engine starts first time and runs great. The gearbox changes smoothly through all four gears and pull strong and consistently through the range.
Genuine OEM hood. still using its original folding mechanism it can be removed and secured with minimal hassle and with all new rubbers can be fastened secure and water tight in seconds. Hood lining still contains the sound pad. though the lining has sagged in places.
Original headrest seats. still in original order with only slight wear on the drivers bolster. Door cars are perfect and retain the factory speakers within. without cracks or fault.

Treated to a very competent body renovation some 7 years ago. the bodywork is still in show stopping order. The majority of rubbers and stoppers were also changed and the car was freshly Ziebarted. The underside is completely original and has not benefitted from remedial work. On inspection it does requires attention. The common rust areas seem to be ok. Battery tray. inner wings. suspension spires are all perfect. It is the front section and anti roll bar mounts that appear to need some welding/replacement. Any inspection welcome. it will make for light work for someone that knows and enjoys repairing beetles. I am an avid beetle collector and have owned over 10 Karmann Cabriolets. The condition and originality of the bodywork and interior on this one is up there with the best of my current collection and previous cars. The underside sections mentioned is the only thing that lets the car down. once completed it will be up there with the very best. I personally imported her from the USA with 2 others to add to my collection. unfortunately I have other cars that demand my time and efforts. so I am offering this car to another good home/collection. All taxes have been paid and she is ready to be put into the new owners name as the third owner in its history.
I must emphasise that the car must be seen to be appreciated. I have been a VW enthusiast and member of the VWOC and VW Cabriolet OC attending many shows yearly. I am confident that you will not see a better Karmann Cabriolet for a long time (providing the repair work is conducted). It would be a great little project over the next month or two and would reward you kindly when she is fully fit and winning trophies.

The car is available for any inspection by AA/RAC etc. It is stored covered in my well-lit. heated garage. so can be viewed day or night regardless of light or weather conditions.
