Model History
Fiat have played a major part in the history of the sports car. The classic marques of Ferrari. Alfa Romeo and Lancia are all part of the Fiat Group. Small wonder then. that the X1/9 Special Edition have a true sporting pedigree. Styles by Bertone. this sleek two-seater shows its breeding from every angle and the mid-engined layout gives the optimum combination of balance and control complemented by the fully independent suspension. The X1/9 was maufactured by Fiat from 1972-1982 (140500 cars) and subsequently by Bertone from 1982 to 1989 (19500 cars) making this SE Grand Finale one of the last cars ever produced.
Interior & Equipment
The original cloth interior is excellent as are the door cards as you would expect from such a low mileage example. The black original carpets are in fantastic condition. there is no cracking to the dashboard and all switches and gauges work perfectly as they should. the original leather steering wheel is excellent. Music is provided through a Sony premium sound system with electric ariel.
Exterior
Beautiful Mica Blue metallic paintwork with a deep shine and great finish with no rust or rot what so ever. Original bumpers and rubber mouldings are fantastic throughout. All panel gaps are first class and the doors/boot etc close easily and precisely. The solid removable Targa top fits perfectly and is excellent. this stows easily into the front luggage area. The original external decals and lights are all in excellent order.
Wheels. Tyres & Brakes
Original Fiat cross spoked alloys which were only available on the Special Edition model are in very good order sitting on all matching quite new 165/70/13 Dunlop Sp tyres.
Engine & Transmission
The original engine and 5 speed gear box are fantastic with no rattles or leaks. The clutch is very light and she drives like a dream being very responsive from the 1500cc 85 bhp engine that also turns out a credible 47. 2 mpg.
Summary
This Special Edition Bertone styled X1/9 in Mica Blue is incredible condition throughout having had only 3 previous owners and fully documented low milage of 21k. it wants for nothing.
Comes complete with all original Fiat handbooks. wallet. service history plus old MOT's dating back to 1994 when the recorded milage was 5508. The nice detailed history file also has many invoices for servicing. work carried out and parts purchased dating back to 1990.
