This highly desirable ‘D' model (the most sort after & collectable model in the classic 500 range) has the very rare ‘suicide doors'. a full length convertible sunshine roof - ‘trasformabile'. ‘round speedo' & original 499cc rebuilt engine- In fact it has it all!

It's an original LHD Italian example from Treviso. Northern Italy that has only had 2 owners from new & was manufactured on 21st December 1964 at the Fiat factory in Italy. It stayed in Treviso were it was fully restored to concours condition in the summer of 2011. until June this year when we purchased it from our Italian classic car partner & brought it to our shores. We have just completed UK registration. MOT along with many other improvements & fully detailed the vehicle to show standards…

This beautiful example is eminently usable as it has the original but freshly rebuilt 499cc engine with rebuilt gearbox & drives as good as it looks.

The second Italian owner entrusted his beloved 500D to an Italian classic car restorer whom embarked on a full pain staking nut & bolt restoration to concours standard in 2011. This included: Complete strip to bare metal shell. the structure & floors were found to be excellent. The original interior was also fully and expertly retrimmed to match the existing pattern and is exact in very respect. The engine was rebuilt along with the gear box. The handbrake cable was changed. clutch replaced. span >  all pedals changed. the petrol tank was fully refurbished and flushed. the complete door card set & interior trim was refurbished. including the underside of sunroof & roof panel. other items of interior trim were refurbished or replaced. The lights were replaced front and rear. all new rubber items were replaced including the rear window. windscreen & side window rubbers. new windscreen rear window & quarter light windows fitted. new bushes. span >  new struts. new starter motor and a new exhaust. in fact every mechanical item was either refurbished or replaced.  

The bumpers & brackets were replaced. new wing mirror fitted. fully shot blasted & refurbished original Fiat steel wheels. new correct matching tyres. span >  it also received a full rewire including the loom using new genuine parts. The car was fully painted at this time in it's original shade of Fiat Bianco (233) that you see today.  In fact it looks as good underneath as it does on the top!

Since being in our possession. we have been meticulous in our further preparation prior to offering this exception example to the market by undertaking the following works: Fitted a new black long sunshine roof complete with frame & belt clips etc. Machine polished the complete vehicle to show standard. Had all the chrome work fully repolished. Undersealed the vehicle with a Wurth spray gun applied underseal – just to protect this example for the next 47 years of its life! Reset the boot lid correctly so it locks with ease. Fitted new side lights. Fitted chrome wiper blades. Fitted a new ignition lock unit. Fitted a new boot mat. Fitted various minor bits of trim & clips. New chrome period Fiat wing mirrors. New headlamp surrounds. New rear number plate light hosing. Bonnet front pad. Engine bay rubbers. Oil cap. Touch up paint supplied. Fitted the correct D engine decal set. Fitted new period number plates with number plate surrounds. Adjusted the steering geometry. Supplied a fresh MOT and conducted a multipoint check. Replaced the fuel with £25 of new super unleaded. Tuned the carbs. Set the timing. Adjusted & cleaned the brakes & given the cheeky little chap a full service  just to be sure! We have even fitted a new luggage rack & wicker hamper basket with full picnic set for 2. Fitted a period tax disc holder. 500 Key ring. ACI club sticker. The car is on the button. very reliable & ready to go…

The car looks as new and is no doubt better than when it left the factory in 1964. Its probably one of the best examples in the UK. has been correctly restored by people who know the marquee. This is a collectors opportunity and a superb investment and has only driven less than1000 KMS since its full restoration & hence this cheeky chappy is now registered. MOT'd & being offered for sale!
