1959 Desoto diplomat 2 Dr Coupe Mopar Plymouth Classic American v8

Welcome to the auction of my rare and really great 1959 Desoto diplomatThis car is an original factory rhd built in Delaware NJ and was purchased new in the UK and has been here ever since ! its probably the only one in the country . The Desoto company used a 59 Plymouth body and running gear in this model so in all mechanical and physical purposes its a 59 Plymouth with a different front end and interior . The similarities the car has to the famous Stephen king movie car Christine are there to be seen . n fact a previous owner spent a lot of time and money years ago trying to make it look even more like Christine with a red paint job and interior re trim . This car has a colourfull history and is well known on the UK classic American scene for years and has lots of history of its previous time with other keepers online even a painting of it . this  car featured in Tommy lee jones movie Stormy Monday in its original white paint job . Also a previous owner told me it was at the 1959 Earls court motor show although there is no proof of this dug up yet . I bought this car over two years ago as id always wanted a 50s Plymouth this came up and  was the closest i was going to get for under 10k due to the work it needed at the time . also i was drawn to it being a huge Christine fan as it has such a similar appearance and is often mistaken for Plymouth fury. The car has a pillar less body so with the windows down looks really great . t is fitted with a 318 poly v8 and two barrel carb not the original but same spec as original. the head gaskets were done last year due to one going and at the same time the radiator was re- cored at a cost of over 400 pounds for that alone. the car also had the steering box reconditioned by the previous owner and all the steering linkages replaced at great cost so that is all good and with give years of service . it has 4 recent tyres . the gearbox is push button controlled and it drives and changes gear fine . the chassis is huge and solid . the body itself has seen numerous welding repairs but is in good shape . the car had all of its paint de laminating and falling off when i bought it and also bad bubbling above the headlights so i had the whole car plasti dip coat painted in a satin red with micro red metal flake as a temporary job which has just stayed and still looks presentable .  i have a great cost sourced and imported replacement panels to repair the wings that are included with the car and replaced the rear tail lights which were absolutely knackered the lights cost me over 600 and are not too bad but will benefit from a re chrome.  this car drives and turns heads like you wont believe  . I have done weddings and proms with the car and it has always had a great reception. The car will be a great investment with a bit of tlc to some small issues such as drivers door lock and the wipers are very intermittent could be a great drive as is 50s yank. minor faults and body work is to be expected of such an old rare car at this sort of price range and with a bit of welding  bodywork and a new paint job and general tlc will be worth serious money and has potential to earn its keep via weddings ect . Unfortunately due to changes in my circumstances and losing the dry storage for the car she is now up for sale . really dont want to sell her but have no choice really. I DO NOT WANT ANYTHING IN PX AND DO NOT WANT SILLY OFFERS THEY WILL BE IGNORED ! these cars are worth serious money when done to a good standard. i have seen them at  20K plus and shes worth a good chunk in the condition its in so if you want to mess find another one . so its ready to drive away shes tax and mot exempt and only cost me 70 pounds a year to insure fully comp . Due to the age and mot exempt status this car is sold as seen no warranty is given I HAVE ADVERTISED THE CAR ELSE WHERE AND CAN END THE LISTING AT ANY TIME . GOOD LUCK
