EXTERIOR
This brilliant 90 Spec XR3i has been fastidiously kept true to Fords intentions with no modifications from factory standard. This final incarnation of the sporting Mk4 Escort has many subtle revisions from that of the 88 Spec forerunners. the more visual of which being a revised shape front bumper to aid improved cool air flow. 14” Cosworth style alloy wheels and a larger more shapely rear spoiler. Finished in Ford Black (code A0). this example boasts a deep glossy shine with a fantastic mirror finish. All panels are straight and free from corrosion and the vehicle is structurally perfect. revealing its enthusiast owned low mileage credentials. Minor markings commensurate with a 23 year old car do not spoil the appeal of this rare. unmolested Fast Ford. The supplying Ford Dealer rear window sticker remains and under the bonnet is very clean with all identification plates and stickers intact and the correct red HT leads. Superb.

INTERIOR
The ‘just as Ford intended' appeal of this vehicle certainly follows to the interior of this example. The original Zolda upholstery (code LU) with matching door cards is in fantastic order with no wear to the seat structure or fabric. Just one miniscule nick to the driver's side door card is visible upon close inspection. The colour-keyed cut pile carpet is unmarked and the headlining is clean and tight. Minor age related discolouration to the interior door pulls are a common occurrence and do not detract from this beautiful fresh interior and the ‘A' pillar lining is creased slightly. All interior instrumentation and switch gear operate correctly including the original Ford Keycode stereo and the 90 spec specific Quickclear heated front screen. All factory glass is security etched with the registration mark. A truly remarkable example of this final edition Mk4 XR3i. not to be missed.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Standard in every respect and a purists dream. this 1597cc CVH engine with the Ford developed electronic fuel injection (EFi) has been meticulously maintained developing a crisp. responsive 108bhp and that unmistakable XR3i rasp unspoilt through the standard exhaust fitment. A top speed of 117mph and 0-60mph in 9. 6 seconds feels spirited thanks to a kerb weight of just 945kg. The 5-speed transmission is light. precise and a joy to use.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
The optional Cosworth style alloy wheels are one inch smaller in diameter to those fitted to the Sapphire Cosworth and again specific to the 90 spec. more often known as the ‘lattice style' alloys. Three of the items are in pristine order with only faint scratch marks to the nearside front worthy of mention. Avon 185/60 R14 tyres have excellent tread remaining. A fifth matching alloy in excellent order is housed in the clear boot floor area. The diagonally-split dual-line servo assisted brakes with front discs and self-adjusting rear drums stop the car quickly and safely.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied by Ford Main Dealers Elliott's of Hornsea and registered new on the 15th March 1991. this 90 Spec XR3i has clearly been cherished from new. With full service history the mileage of 68. 95 is documented with a fully stamped service book and many previous MOT certificates. The most recent service stamp just 1. 00 miles ago and a huge collection of parts invoices. this example is wanting for nothing and offers peace of mind for the next owner.

All handbooks. service books and manuals are contained in the clear A5 Ford folder. The previous keeper Mr Ian Cragg an avid Ford enthusiast obtained the car in August 2011 having long desired one when they were new. His enthusiasm for the car is clearly displayed in its condition and he has now decided to part with the car in order to relive his youth with a Ford Capri! Set for a new owner. this XR3i is ready for shows and classic outings alike.
