Superb 68 Pontiac Firebird, total rebuild

Reluctantly the time has come to sell my 68 Firebird. I built this as a keeper. but sadly can't afford to keep it. I'd really like to see it go to a good home. Let's be really clear from the outset. If you are looking for a nicely restored original. or weekend cruiser. this ISN'T the car for you. This is a well built street/strip car. put together with the best (expensive!) parts. It's been gone through from top to bottom. resulting in a fast. fun. LOUD street car that drawe attention everywhere. It started life as a straight six powered car (it's now correctly registered as a 400 on the log book). The body was stripped and professionally painted by Roberts Motor Bodies. Sheffield. in stunning BMW (Mini) electric blue. All steel. with a high quality glassfibre bonnet. It's rot free. all the floors and boot floor are excellent. The body has been stiffened up with subframe connectors and a roll cage - it retains the full interior. including the rare fold down rear seat. not a gutted out race car. I fitted a new speedo on rebuild. currently showing 966 miles. which is how far it has been to date. The engine is a stroked 400 Pontiac with aluminium Edelbrock heads. high quality internals including forged pistons. high lift sold roller camshaft & lots more. The 3" Flowmaster exhaust sounds fantastic. Best of all as far as I'm concerned. this is a manual car. with a modern Tremec five speed gearbox. feeding through to a Strange S60 "Dana" type rear axle. a bulletproof unit made specifically for the Camaro/Firebird. With 3. 7:1 rear gears. the car is reasonably good on fuel on the motorway in fifth. but if your bothered about fuel economy. it's probably not the car for you! Suspension is from Global West all round. with QA1 shock absorbers and an SSBC disc brake kit. The suspensions transforms the car and gives a really firm ride. unlike most American cars. Every bit of wiring is new. redone with a Painless Performance kit. new screen. badges. trim. bumpers. Bear in mind this is an old car. no creature comforts and runs with manual steering and brakes. It's a seriously fast car! My plans were to develop the car further with fuel injection and some stickier rear tyres. but I dont have the funds. This is an extremely reluctant sale. so please NO TIME WASTERS. Only contact me if you are serious and understand what owning an old car like this entails.
