Classic Car for sale. superb Rover 2000TC. 54. 00 miles. Thick history file. Original Reg. Number stays with the car. Full 12 months MOT. Tax exempt. just had its annual 3. 00 mile Service. Lunar grey (green)/tan interior. Un-restored. lovely condition throughout. A prestigious. yet economical car that's not to be missed.

ROVER 2000 TC

What made me buy it (twice) ?

I first bought it at a classic car show in 2009.

It's generally acknowledged that the P6 model is the last

'real' Rover and the condition and colour - it's called Lunar Grey.

but with a hint of green - really appealed to me. I felt it had a tremendously

likeable character and would make a perfect car that would give 3. 00 miles

a year reliable and trouble-free motoring. I wasn't wrong ! It was first registered in

November 1972. so another bonus is the free 'road tax'. After 3 years of ownership.

I then sold it to a local chap who knew the car well. but this latest addition

to his collection exceeded his available storage space and. within a

very short time. decided that one of them had to go.

Knowing his predicament. and me still being

fond of the car. (I confess that I missed it more

than I had first realised !)  I bought

it back off him  !!

What's the Rover 2000 TC like to drive ?

It's the twin carburettor model. so it's got a bit of

poke when you need it . Not as much as the 3500 V8 of course. /p>

(just under 2 seconds slower from 0-60 mph). but it does offer a pleasant

30-33 mpg compared to the V8's 18-20 mpg. Classed as a 4-seater sports saloon.

it certainly keeps up with modern traffic and. because of its unique suspension.

it easily irons out all those bumps and pot-holes. Running on radial tyres.

the road-holding is superb and has to be tried to be believed. There's

no wallowing around corners. no bouncing up and down. no

wheel hop – it's as if it runs on rails. The large. but thin-

rimmed steering wheel can be heavy at parking speeds. but

quickly lightens up on the open road and the front and rear servo-

assisted disc brakes give superb. modern day stopping performance. The

contoured seats really do offer arm-chair comfort and the all synchro gearbox is a delight to use.

so it's no trouble to spend any time behind the wheel. hich is rather nice when we take it on the occasional

holiday to Scotland or a run to any of the dozen or so classic car shows that are held throughout the

summer. Rover's sales literature at the time stated that 'the Rover 2000 was

aimed at the young executive who wanted modern. sporting.

high quality transport'. and in summing up ….

I have to admit that this Rover gives a rewarding

driving experience coupled with an unmistakeably luxurious interior.

What are the safety and convenience features ?

Engine mounts are so designed that they direct the engine & gearbox under the vehicle (away from the occupants) in the event of a collision.

Impact-absorbing dashboard has deformable honeycomb structure.

Outer panels are bolted-on to a skeletal base-frame. making replacements very easy.

Large under-fascia storage compartments are both padded for extra knee protection.

Inertia-reel seat belts for the driver and front passenger.

Heater is superb in winter with powerful fresh air vents for summer use.

Parcel shelves front and rear.

Anti-burst door locks with crumple zones front & rear.

Ergonomically designed individual bucket seats with good lateral support. plus fully adjustable front seat backs with ample fore and aft movement on the seat runners.

Rake adjustment on the steering wheel.

Quad headlamp system giving a really broad flood of light at night.

2-speed wipers plus intermittent. with electric washers.

Heated rear screen and reserve fuel tank.

High level brake light & Radio/Cassette (after-market accessories).

Interior saloon lights. including a map-reading light.

16 cu. ft of available boot space.

Interior is light & airy with an excellent view of the car extremities. Note : Glass prisms on top of the side lights illuminates the front corners of the car at night.

All in all. the 'ROVER P6' is a very safe car. that you would be happy for your family to travel in.

What's the condition of the car like ?

The underside has been waxoyled from new and re-applied at

every service. No obvious evidence of any welding and the sills are

still strong. There are a few very minor blemishes. but the bodywork is in a totally

original. unrestored and unmarked condition. The car has always been garaged and the engine is

very clean for a car that's regularly driven. All the original factory stickers are still intact. The beige vinyl

with seats with leather inserts are in very good order with a slightly used look in keeping with

its age and mileage. Recent tyres all round. The imitation wood trim is unmarked. All the

doors shut with a satisfying clunk. Exhaust valves have been hardened to take

unleaded 97 octane petrol.   It's just had its full annual service - needs

nothing and is completely ready for the summer.

In conclusion. it's a true driver's car that is a joy to own.

Thanks to their comfort. build quality and practicality.
