1965 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 Pickup / Short Bed / Removable Hard Top for sale
Current customer rating:
Renovated 1965 FJ 45 Short Wheel Base Land Cruiser Pickup Truck with removable hard top. Updated to mid-1980's Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 60 running gear to include: Land Cruiser 2 F engine. 4 speed manual transmission and 2 speed transfer case. front and rear differentials and axles.
Also added are power 4 wheel disc brakes. (land cruiser on front and chevy truck on rear). with land cruiser master cylinder. vacuum booster & hydraulics. The added power steering set-up uses first generation Toyota 4-Runner pump combined with FJ 60 Land Cruiser power steering gear box.
It also has a "Vintage Air" air-conditioning set-up inside the cab. but it only works for heat and defrost. no functional air conditioning is being claimed. Relating to air-conditioning under the hood. it is also all FJ 60 land cruiser components. but without room for a fan-clutch in the assembly I have never gotten any combination of components to run an AC Compressor without "powdering the belts. " I have been advised that this may not be due to the lack of a fan-clutch as previously thought or guessed. but may instead be due to a defective upward pressure limit switch on the system. with the suggestion that if pressure limit switch was fixed/replaced and set correctly. it might be possible to use the air conditioner AS an air conditioner. even though there is no space for a fan-clutch. I have not tried that suggestion and have no real idea whether it would work. So presently there is no belt to drive the AC Compressor. though there is a 3 rd-row crankshaft pulley and everything else required to accommodate a separate belt for driving the Air Conditioning.
For suspension. it has Old Man Emu springs with 2. 5" lift for front and rear. with greasable anti-inversion shackles. and ordinary shocks.
The windshield wipers do not work. as an air-conditioning shop stripped the driver's side blade assembly on the motor post -- (someone playing with them and freaking out and grabbing it to stop it when the wipers didn't turn off "like new ones do" -- is what I think happened).
It also has a custom 29 gallon fuel tank mounted where the spare tire was originally positioned. The fuel gauge does not work. I suspect the sending unit in the tank. but am unsure of this. It could be wiring in-between the tank and gauge. or the gauge itself.
The interior has a leather bench seat. split 60/40 and with power. It has AM/FM stereo with cassette deck all mounted in the glove box. with speakers behind the seat. and seat-matching lighted vanity visors (chick-rig!).
Nearly all trim seen in black is powder coat. with the exception of the custom front and rear bumpers.
The wheels are custom built steel 16 X 7" wheels built to accommodate the second-generation land cruiser hub caps. and have proper offsets to work with the disc brakes. so no spacers etc. are required or used.
The VIN # indicates that the truck was originally built between November and December of 1964. as an FJ 45. for import to the USA as a 1965 model.
We bought the truck 19 years ago. with the understanding that we were buying from the son of the original purchaser. I am trying to get some documentation to actually support that story. but no promises in those regards as yet. (and since-enacted privacy laws may prevent me from having any luck). The mechanical renovation was completed about 6-7 years ago. and we have since put about 10. 00 miles on the truck -- the odometer shows about 20. 00 miles. but that's not the original odometer/speedometer -- We installed that odometer/speedometer not long after we originally bought it. so it only reflects the miles we have put on it during the course of our 19 year ownership. I only listed that number (20. 00 miles) because e Bay formatting wouldn't accept 1. 00. 00 or 999. 99 miles -- i. e. : "I have no idea" what the mileage is and don't even want to make a claim.
