For years RK Motors Charlotte has been your A12 headquarters. and we've showcased some of the finest examples in the world. The latest is this Performance Red 1969. 5 Road Runner A12 that sports the original 440ci 6-bbl V8 and all the original sheetmetal. Given our history. when we say that this is one of the cleanest and most verified A12s we've ever featured. you know it has to be something very. very special.

In fact. this A12 might be one of the most well documented cars we have ever had come through our showroom. This A12 has been certified twice by Galen Govier. listed in the Chrysler Registry and inspected by Dave Wise. MMC. What did they all have to say? Well. to put it simply. this A12 checks out. Before we get too far let's take a look at the VIN and the Fender tag that Galen Govier decoded:

23: Body Type 2-door hardtop
M: Engine: Special Order V8
9: Model Year 1969 E-Series

And now for the fender tag that reads from left to right and from bottom to top:

The A12 package was Chrysler's very successful bid at creating a street legal platform for drag racers. Many of those drag racers preferred A12 'post cars' because of their perceived extra rigidity and lighter weight. That meant most of these Mopar track warriors were beat on weekend after weekend and then retired to the unglamorous existence of field decoration and barn furniture. Naturally. finding a top-notch A12 is a pretty rare occurrence these days. This example still boasts all the original body panels. and has only be repainted once in a correct coat of Performance Red. At the front of the car. a restored original grille hangs four halogen headlights above a good looking chrome bumper and clear. square parking lights. Behind that grille an original fiberglass hood centers a forward-facing scoop. which wears bright "440 6BBL" scripts. in the middle of four stainless pins and a smooth coat of flat black paint. Above that hood. like-new glass rides between satin silver wipers. pristine stainless trim. new chrome drip rails and a fresh vinyl top. Below that glass slab-sided body panels. which do a great job of conveying Chrysler's classic broad-shouldered design language and traditional chrome handles behind a correct chrome mirror and vivid Road Runner call-outs. At the back of the car. a second body-width chrome bumper centers crystal clear reverse lamps between factory fresh tail lights. a pristine road runner decal. an off-center "road runner" emblem. and spotless stainless exhaust tips

Make good use of this Plymouth's four hood pins and you'll find the original 440 cubic inch V8. This thoroughly detailed big block is the kind of headstrong powerplant that'll take its driver from 'confident' to 'scared stiff' in a matter of seconds! At the top of the 390 horsepower mill. a familiar trio of 2-barrel carburetors ride inside a fully-functional induction system that inhales just as well today as it did 44 years ago. At the sides. the headers funnel spent gases into great sounding pipes. Aesthetically. this Plymouth's body-matched engine bay is exceptionally impressive. from its clean fender tag and accurately duplicated decals all the way to its Hemi Orange block paint and purple 'Beep-Beep' horn. These A12's were easily some of the most dangerous vehicles to leave the factory in their day. Not only were they the 1969 Motor Trend Magazine Car of The Year. but they were capable of running 12. 91 in the 1/4-mile in stock configuration.

The car's chassis specs leave little question as to what its B-Body architecture was engineered to do best. Take a step under our lift and you'll find a drag strip-proven bone structure that. based on quick visual inspection. has seen neither rain nor puddle. Behind the thumpin' original Chrysler block. a tough A833 18-spline 4-speed twists a Dana 60 that's equipped with big. 4. 10 gears. Below that proven drivetrain. a heavy duty front torsion bar and rear leaf suspension include a correct A12 sway bar. staggered leaf springs and heavy duty 11" drum brakes. Power flows to the pavement through JJ wheels which spin authentic looking G70-15 Goodyear Wide Tread Polyglas redlines around chrome lug nuts and traditional black paint.

Open this Road Runner's big. solid doors and sit down inside a cockpit where legendary Mopar power melds seamlessly with a no frills. no-nonsense driving environment. It's nicknamed the 'taxi cab interior'. because it provides the perfect combination of striper car weight and big car durability. At the sides of the black vinyl seats. door panels hang armrests under bright stainless trim and correct black frames. At the bottom of those seats. like-new carpet is protected by heavy duty rubber floor mats. And at the top of those seats. a tight black headliner is stretched around fresh bows and a fully functional dome light. The car's dash hangs factory gauges beside a correct Solid State AM radio that's complete with Chrysler's super cool thumb-wheel knobs. In front of the driver. the steering wheel holds a Road Runner decal in the center of the wheel and spins a silver trimmed horn button around a rebuilt steering column. Behind the cockpit. the car's fully restored trunk is authentic all the way down to its vintage spare tire and yellow decklid marks.

Included in the sale of this immaculate A12 is the factory brochure. original Chrysler Corporation Broadcast Sheet. original selling dealer verification. window Sticker. original owner's manuals (A12 specific). complete owner & title history. engine restoration photos. Galen Govier visual inspection (1. 3). David Wise inspection report and invoice. technical Service Bulletin. Master Technicians Reference Book. and art print.

This '69 A12 Road Runner has it all: looks to kill. power that never stops and a roster of rare components that would take a builder years to duplicate and assemble. It's exclusive. valuable. impressive. and when you take one look at its unique features and low production stats. you realize the chance to own a Mopar this cool is a once in a lifetime opportunity. If you're in the market for some solid. investment grade muscle that'll continue to build equity for years to come. this top notch Plymouth is exactly what you've been looking for!
