1971 MG Midget for sale

For auction is a 1971 MG Midget. that has been used succesfully in Hillclimbing. but could easily be put back to road use. The car has a very small patch of rust on one rear wheel arch which is easily repaired. but apart from that it is very sound and does NOT require any body repairs. The car was running up until December. I used to start it every week to keep it in good order. unfortunately the fuel pump has failed and needs to be replaced. The car also needs a new battery and radiator grill. Modifications to the car include:-

Webber 45 DCOE carb.

Racing distributor.

Roll Bar.

4/5 point harnesses.

One competition seat and one high back seat.

Original hard top.

Telescopic shocks on the rear.

Foam filled fuel tank mounted in the boot.

4. 5/1 Diff.

Car has been lowered by about 1. 5 inches.

The engine was built by the previous owner. it is bored out to approx 1290cc. the head has been improved for better flow and a fast road cam fitted. Since I have owned the car I have had the gearbox stripped and re assembled by Peter May.

The car is very quick off the line. all panels are steel. the bonett can be completely removed in seconds and the whole of the front end comes off easily. This is a great little car. but I am unable to Hillclimb anymore so it must go. I do not have time to sort out the fuel pump. but if anyone wants to come and start the engine with a temporary fuel supply that's fine. You will need a battery. or we can jump start it from another car.  There is no MOT. so you will need a tariler to collect. but as I said before it will be an easy job to get it back it road trim.
