1974 BMW 3. 0csa. Brown. Great Condition

Description:

Up for auction is a 1974 BMW 3. 0csa. This car is in great condition with a rebuilt motor and transmission. There is 59. 11 mi. on the odometer; that is the approximate mileage on the rebuild. The motor has twin Weber carburetors. newer battery and radiator and a newer nine blade fan. with an auxiliary switch. It has been kept in the garage since 2005. I have never driven the car in the rain. This car runs. drives and sounds like it should. The interior still smells like leather and it is a non-smoking car. The tool set is complete except for one missing wrench. I also have a box of miscellaneous parts (gaskets. filters. one rotor. distributor. spark plugs etc. )

The car's interior is in excellent condition and all original. The one exception is the rear shelf which I replaced with new wood. padding and vinyl. No tears or rips in the leather. The vinyl dash has two small dings. The front seats were discolored from the sun and are covered with two nice sheep skin seat covers. The door panels are a 9 out of 10. The wood is in excellent condition with slight peeling of the finish in a couple of spots. The back seat and armrest are in excellent condition except for the top edge of the armrest when it is in the up position where the sun has dried and cracked the leather. All of the chromed pieces are complete and in very good condition with minor scratches. All of the windows work. although the right rear only works with the rear switch. The power sun roof works as well. The headliner is a little rough but intact.

The body is straight and not showing any sign of collision damage. The paint is OK but an inexpensive job. The original color was Sienna Brown. the previous owner repainted it a chocolate brown (I am 90% sure it is the Mercedes brown color). It goes nicely with the tan leather but it's not a BMW color. All lights and indicators work. The wipers work fine but the spline gears are getting worn out. The tires are good as is the stainless exhaust and chrome tip.

There are some bubbles on top of the right front fender. At the rear end of the rockers there were small areas of decay that were opened and cleaned out and treated with rust inhibitor then filled and painted. The channel around the trunk where the weather strip is had three or four small spots of decay that were cleaned and treated. The front floor pans had rust around the drain holes. I removed them and used a wire wheel to clean out the area. I used a thin nylon sheet for backing material and sealed it with fiberglass resin. These were not intended to be permanent fixes but I don't have the skill to weld. There is a vertical crack in the windshield on the passenger side.

I originally bought this car in 1986 from my brother who was the second owner. Three years later I sold it to a local BMW dealer. Fast forward to the spring of 2005 when I was about to retire and I was looking for a coupe. I answered an ad in the paper and during the course of the conversation it became clear that we were talking about my old car. I met with the owner and it was a fact. he had bought it from the same dealer. I bought this amazing car back and have enjoyed owning it a second time around but now it's time to sell.

Feel free to ask any and all questions including requests for additional photos if needed.   Good luck with your bidding!
