VW LT35 Glendale GL2500 Motorhome/Campervan/Bus Petrol/ LPG, good tax and test for sale
Current customer rating: (553 votes ) based onVW LT35 Glendale GL2500 Motorhome/Campervan. MY1980. Petrol/ LPG. 1984cc. 4 speed manual gearbox. good tax and test
I have only just bought this grand old motor-home. but after driving it for a few days I have quickly decided it is just not for me. I did have this romantic notion of spending many weekends wild camping this summer. but this vehicle is too slow and laborious to drive even for an old codger like me. I understand that the journey should be incorporated into the holiday when camping. but trundling along at 50mph for many miles is not my idea of fun (even if done particularly cheaply when usingLPG). so I have decided to get something a bit more modern instead.
The van is a purpose built motor-home and was built by renowned coachbuilders Glendale back in 1980. It is based on a VW LT35 chassis and has a 1984cc petrol engine with a 4 speed manual gearbox. The vehicle has been converted to run on both petrol and LPG.
It has a good tax and MOT. The MOT is valid until 14 Aug 2014 and it is taxed until the end of Sept 2014.
The interior is very original and unspoilt. very retro and very cool
It has a full oven. grill and two ring hob
There is a separate shower/toilet compartment
There are two large water tanks
Front and rear radio/cd/mp3 players
TV and roof aerial. works with freeview
Double bed over cabin
Large sitting/sleeping area. with table.
Gas heater
External electric hook up and external water filler
Space/connections/inverter for an internal leisure battery
Loads and loads of storage space
Tow bar
The mileage on the clock is showing 77k miles but may rise with use
All of the above are untested by me. but the van was in use when I bought it and the previous owner assured me all were working OK.
No history. sorry. I did not get any from the previous owner although he had owned and used the van for the previous 6 years. travelling all over the UK but predominantly wild camping in Scotland.
Points to note:
There is a sign that it may have had a roof leak at some point in one of the smaller cupboards but all is dry now. as is the rest of the van. Probably was the roof vent or cooker flue. Mechanically is ran very well during the long journey home when I bought it. but it is very slow. please take this into consideration when bidding. I ran it exclusively on LPG to save money and it ran well. However. you will get nowhere fast. but you WILL get there!!! Did I mention it is slow? There is a stainless steel backbox on the exhaust which I was told is a relatively new addition.
So there you have it. a good honest un-messed with classic motor-home that has a good tax (until end of Sept 2014) and 5 months MOT (Aug 2014). It has a real retro look and feel. It is very comfortable inside and a very capable camper. It is not the prettiest thing on the road but it is very functional and will get you where you want to go. eventually!!!
I would like a Paypal deposit of £200 immediately on completion of the auction. with the balance paid and the vehicle collected within a further 5 days. The pick up date can be negotiable with prior arrangement as long as the balance is paid within these timescales. Please take into consideration that I will be on holiday between 25 March - 2 April.
Thank you for taking the time to look.
Cheers. /span>

ps - Due to this being a recent purchase I only have the green slip of the V5 at the moment. /span> I am awaiting the full V5 document in my name from the DVLA. Hopefully this will arrive before the sale.
Why not have a look in my 'see others items' section to see if there is anything else of interest???
On 14-Mar-14 at 12:49:39 GMT. seller added the following information:
Hi all. br>
Thank you for all your messages and offers.
I had the van out for a run in the lovely sunshine yesterday and got a better 'feel' for it (I also had a lot of people coming over for a look when I parked up and had lunch - one or two laughingly (I think) offering to buy it!!!)
Anyway. the run out allowed me to have a better look around it in the open space and told me a few of things that you should be aware of if you are thinking of bidding:
the van ran perfectly on LPG but seemed to cut out when switched to petrol. I drove it home over 150 miles when I bought it and it ran brilliantly. but that was all the way using LPG only (as LPG is 66p per litre). the LPG fuel guage doesn't work but the mileometer does. so you need to calculate have far you've gone between fill ups. the bottom of the doors. although I do not think is an MOT failure. do need repair (already mentioned in the main advert. just had a better look)the headlights and one rear sidelight don't work (bulbs. fuses. earths. something else?)
I will have a look at the above if I get any spare time. but that is not guaranteed so please take that into consideration and bid accordingly.
I can't think of anything else at the moment. but if I do I will post it up to let you know. Remember. the van is 34 years old and has just come out of winter storage. so will need 'check over' and maybe a little tlc here and there (it does still have lots of MOT and tax left to allow you to do that as you use it :) )
Thank you all once again for your interest.
Kevin
