1969 Camaro SS RS Pro Touring for sale
Current customer rating:
The definition of a pro touring build is to take a classic beauty like this '69 Camaro and fill it with race proven components and a high horse power engine. It's been done over and over to the point where it's really no big deal anymore. However. every now and then there comes a build that really pops out on the car show circuit. Here is an example of what I'm talking about. With a modern suspension. a luxurious leather interior. and a 692 hp engine. this Camaro is the envy of any speed demon looking to capture the heartbeat of America.
This Camaro's body was shot in a Mercedes color of Agean Topaz Blue by master fabricator and world renowned painter Bernt Karlsson of the 401 K Club in Anaheim. CA using the finest Dupont paint. With the doors. fenders. hood and panels perfectly gapped and lazer straight. the paint was then color and wet sanded to a glass like mirror shine. The classic hockey stripes on the sides were painted in liquid silver and a custom 30 gallon racing fuel cell surrounded by metal fabricated trunk show panels was matched to the body color. The look is simply stunning. At the front of the body Detroit Speed electric RS headlight doors flip open to reveal intense HID Xenon headlamps by Fesler. A painted grille sits above the Anvil Products carbon fiber air dam and aluminum fog light housing. Held up by polished billet hinges is a cowl induction hood made of steel and features a low rise to direct cool air into the engine bay. Shaved roof drip rails with side marker lights eliminated add to the smooth blended theme. At the back of the body. a racing style billet gas cap was morphed into the quarter panel and a 69 Trans AM wing sits perfectly on the truck lid with bright LED tail lights housed in billet aluminum. A custom molded-in rear bumper fabricated by the famous Ring Brothers shop creates a one off look that is sure to garner plenty of attention.
This '69 Camaro features a Merlin III big block 540 cubic inch monster with an Accel DFI dual throttle body fuel injection sytem for the ultimate blend of reliability and power. On the subject of power. this mill pumped out 692 hp and 630 lbft on the dyno at Speed-O-Motive engine shop in West Covina. CA. The blinged out engine cranks a Billet Specialties serpentine belt system and looks amazing against the satin black smoothed firewall. On the sides and front of the engine. you'll notice some Anvil Products full carbon fiber inner fender wells and close out panel along with carbon fiber fender braces. Take a closer look on the right and you'll find an ABS Electric Brake master cylinder eliminating the need for all those messy hydro boost lines. The AC lines on the left side have been routed behind the inner fender wells for a much cleaner engine bay. A Be Cool radiator. with the help of dual electric fans. is responsible for cooling the 540. Spent gasses travel down ceramic coated Hedman Headers through a custom stainless 3" dual exhaust X pipe system utilizing Basani free flow mufflers that exit out just behind the rear tires. The sound is menacing and pure evil.
Jack this Camaro up and you'll see the clean smooth black coated undercarriage that shows just how intricate this build really was. The suspension up front is a Martz IFS subframe with tubular upper and lower control arms connected to a quick ratio AGR power rack and pinion turning 18" Boyd Coddington wheels shod wtih 255/40/18 Michelin Sport Pilot tires. At the rear of the undercarriage you'll find a minitub and Detroit Speed quadralink rear suspension connected to a Detroit Speed 9-inch posi rear end spinning ultra wide 335/30/18 tires thru 3. 70 gears. Front and rear anti-sway bars and coil-over shocks around all four corners provide over 1. 0 g of lateral acceleration that you've come to expect of an exotic sports car. The mega torque created from the big block is sent through an ultra slick TCI Pro 6 X automatic transmission with 6 full forward gears. Selecting clutchless manual mode with a push of button on the console allows you to utilize the rapid firing paddle shifters with a LED read out connected to a leather wrapped Momo sport steering wheel mounted on an Ididit tilt steering column. So go ahead and upshift or downshift through the gears as fast as you can while holding the desired RPM until the next click of the fingers. All this momentum can be stopped on a dime by stomping on the Clayton Machine Works aluminum brake pedal sending hydraulic fluids to the Wilwood 4 wheel cross drilled and slotted disc brakes. Additional safety provided by modern 3-point seat belts with shoulder harness.
Open the driver's side door to reveal a set of Corbeau GTS II bucket seats wrapped in soft leather with contrast stitching by Overhaulin's Bill Dunn upholstery shop in Huntington Beach. CA. Between the sport saddles sits a body color custom fabricated center console with an armrest. cup holders and a chrome B&M Hammer shifter. Power windows controlled with billet switches make it easy to flood the cabin with frest air. In the front of the driver is a Detroit Speed custom painted aluminum dash panel housing Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra Lite gauges with AC and climate by Vintage Air.
