                                          1970 PLMOUTH BARRACUDA

                                                    BLACK ON BLACK

                                                        AAR TRIBUTE

You are bidding on an original 1970 318 Barracuda 3 speed car.    This car was purchased as a project car and was restored as a driver three years ago for my step-dad and mother.   The car started out as a 318 barracuda 3 speed car.    The car had extensive front end damage that required a completely new nose.  A donor car was found and the nose has been installed on this car.   The car was then placed on a frame jig and all dimensions are closer than factory specs.   The engine was rebuilt approximately 5 years ago and probably has 5000 miles on it.   It runs super and has made a trip to Carlisle and back from Maine.

                                                                                                        DriveTrain

The Barracuda has a rebuilt four speed trans. 68 340 with X heads. factory manifolds. fire core wires. newly re-cored radiator. correct fan shroud. new mopar dry cell battery. new edelbrock carb. all new engine harness. electronic ignition. 4bbl oval air cleaner with original filter element. new brake lines. all new front end. disk brakes. AAR K frame. and an original AAR Hood that has the typical bow (no hood squirters installed).

The car has a center force clutch. and new pistol grip shifter.   The springs are custom made by the prior owner and they work so well I kept them on.    The rear-end is an 8 ¾  sure grip with 2. 76 highway gears.   Is is a dream to drive down the interstate.   The car has a custom 3” AAR exhaust with newly chromed tips.   The tips were sent out to be re-chromed for a cost of $500.  The exhaust is unlike any AAR you have ever heard.   It has a very throaty sound that is uncharacteristic of the more restrictive stock AAR exhaust system.   The car runs perfect and was built to be driven easily by my 70 year old step-dad.

                                                                                                               Interior

The interior looks very good.   The seat covers are new with new foam.   The gauges all work with the exception of the speedometer which needs the cable installed.   The carpet is new. the door panels are nice. the seat backs are scratched but show fine.   The car has an aftermarket radio/cd player and two speakers mounted in factory location under the package tray.   The dash which appears be new is actually a modified dash cap.   I typically would not use this however we experimented with it to get the car up and running a little quicker when it was being built and it came out pretty well.   We installed the barracuda insignia on the dash cap and have yet to have anyone notice it at a show.   Seat belts are installed and are in original condition.   The glass is ok with some minor scratches in the side and rear glass.

                                                                                                           Body

The car has full AMD quarters. original fenders that needed work. original doors were pretty nice. A new AMD trunk lid was installed.   The floor pans were pretty solid and were saved.   They have been covered with sound deadening material prior to installing the carpet.   The frame rails are very solid.   You will see crude looking welding in a couple areas under the car. The area is around the torsion bar mounts and the rear spring hangers.   This was done by the prior owner.   He stated that he added these years ago for rigidity as he knew they were weak areas on these cars.   They do nothing but add reinforcement so I left them as is.   The trunk floor was also repaired in a couple spots by the prior owner and regardless of the how the trunk looks in a couple areas it is very sold.

As some point I would replace it just to make it conform with the condition of the rest of the car aesthetically.    It is currently fine as is for a driver quality show car.    A new vinyl top was installed.    The grill is nice and original.   The bumper are new. the rear valance is new and front is original.   A new valance insert was installed.   All lights work.   15” Ralleys with BFG's.   Some pictures may show the car with polyglas tires  which I prefer however my step-dad (the owner) does not.   Polyglas are not included with the sale.   The rear space saver tire is also not included with the sale as that is from my Cuda and I was letting my step-dad use it for shows.   The paint is base coat clear that was buffed and sanded to 3000 grit.  The car is very straight.  There is one minor chip in the driver door edge that happened when I installed a new door hinge that was sagging.   It can easily be touched up and is barely noticeable.

                                                                                                 Known issues

The car does not currently have a heater box installed.  We have been trying to find a nice one and have not currently installed one.   Therefore the heater cables are not installed and the heater is of course not working.  Minor cosmetic issues consist of missing dust shields on fenders. minor glass adjustment needed on side glass. speedometer cable installed. and passenger mirror needs new door insert nuts installed.

The car does not have a Title as Maine is a non-title state on older vehicles.

We have sold numerous cars and my step-dad can provide a letter from the state that can be used in your state to register your vehicle. Do your due diligence and make sure this is adequate prior to you purchasing the car as the winning bid is a binding contract and the sale is as is where is. Ask questions prior to auctions end and I will do my best to answer them.   I am listing this for my step-dad as he bought this car from me three years ago and has gone to nearly 20 shows and has only left once without a trophy.   He now has different interests and asked if I would list his car for sale.   I have driven this car probably more than him so I can answer any question that arises.

No fender tag. no title. no broadcast sheet.   Body numbers do match the vin.
