1972 Land Rover Series 2A Station Wagon 109" Safari Top Right Hand Drive!

Sale price: $19,000.00 make an offer

Seller's notes: "This wonderfully preserved Land Rover Series 2A is in need of a new home, I have been using this truck as a daily driver for the past year and have decided that I needed something better on gas and a little easier to park! We have done some work on the truck including, but not limited to: Replacing the clutch (master cylinder, slave cylinder, reservoir, and lines) Repaired the wiring loom (Brake lights, turn signals, headlights, gauges, speedometer) We have installed a premium "Rover Drive" overdrive. It does mark its' territory (leaks a little oil) we have narrowed the leak down to the breather tube (where it mates to the engine, the distributor (may need a new gasket) or the oil filter attachment, in any case these are only gaskets and can be done fairly easily (if you are handy with a wrench!) The 4x4 and overdrive work great, and the locking hubs function fine. The engine is very tight and runs like a raped ape (for a series landy anyways ;))"

This wonderful example of a Series 2A Land Rover was imported into the United States in 2007 from New Zealand (still has the original license plates from new on it).

We purchased this car from a man in Charleston South Carolina who took great care of it and sprayed the frame religiously with Waxoyl.

This is a smoker free car and has never been smoked in (as far as I know).

I have been using this truck as a daily driver for about a year now and need something better on gas. The motor is very strong on this Series and I was told by the previous owner to run premium (it has more power than most series station wagons). However. if you're looking for a fast car. this is not that. Rather it's a truck that will go anywhere. and go there in style. I love going to fill it up with petrol because people are often inspired to strike up friendly conversations about its' origins and whether it's for sale. sadly I can now say that it is. It does leave its' love mark on the driveway and a piece of cardboard has served to contain that for the time being (started leaking shortly after I purchased it a little over a year ago. I have been told by my trusted mechanic that it's likely the gasket that attaches the breather tube to the engine. the gasket for the distributor. or the oil filter attachment gasket.

The truck is fitted with seat belts for the middle bench seat. and the front seats.

This truck is unique in that it does not have heating or air conditioning. (I joke that the front air vents are my heating and air conditioning)

The frame is absolutely solid. the rest of the car has the normal Land Rover cancer (on the doors. the back bumper(tiny hole). and a little on the foot steps. Nothing that hurts the integrity or safety of the vehicle. The air vents on the roof don't like to just let in air. they let in some water when it rains too. I'd recommend parking it somewhere where it won't be rained on frequently.

This station wagon has two spares: one on the hood. and one on the back. This ensure that no matter where you're going you'll have enough tires to get there! The 4 Wheel Drive works great and I engage it every so often to keep it in working order.

The starter recently started going out. and I have had the starter and starter solenoid replaced by British 4x4 in Durham. Works strong now. The clutch has been replaced as well as the master and slave cylinders and the lines and reservoir(thing that holds the fluid). I have had all the fluids in the truck changed(axles. ransmission) and the radiator flushed and new coolant put in.

There was rust on the front floorboards so I had those replaced. and the rest is solid. The truck has always started right away for me. and runs really smooth.

The headlights have been replaced and burn brightly. the tires are practically new. as you can see in the pictures there is a lot of tread left on them.

The Vin/Chassis Number is: 26304934H and I am hesitant to list a specific mileage since we are still driving it. but it reads less than 94. 00 on the odometer. While I can't certify the mileage. the condition indicates that it hasn't rolled over.

Needs nothing to drive. has the points style ignition though. so you should have an understanding of how to set the points and replace a bad condenser (they're all made in china these days. and aren't the greatest in durability) I had an electronic ignition on there. but took it off recently. It was a pertronix system that worked great. I removed it because when I removed it to service it. I lost a washer or something (Not too familiar with electronic ignition) and it quit working.

It's in really phenomenal condition considering it's age.

Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this listing.
