This fully restored & highly desirable Fiat 500 ‘Giardiniera' model (one of the most sort after & collectable models in the classic 500 range) has the very rare ‘suicide doors'. a full length sunshine roof. ‘round speedo'. original 499cc engine. plus it's finished in the most popular colour combination of blue scuro with a tan piped cream interior – Yes in fact it has it all!
This exceptional example is showing a mileage of only 29. 28 believed correct. but only having travelled less than 1000 miles since a professional full body restoration & engine rebuild. The excellent work was conducted in Holland by the proprietor of a specialist Italian sports car garage. by himself with his grown up son whom also works in the family business. as it was their own personal pet project.
Thus. it is fair to say the standard of finish is exceptional with money being no object. We bought it direct from the father whom owns the business & he had used it sparingly over the last 1. 5 years & mainly for Fiat 500 Club events & charity duties. It has even been used to ferry Father Christmas around his Dutch home town delivering presents to sick children. (Photo in the history file & worth a view!)
It's naturally an original LHD Italian vehicle. having only had a hand full of owners from new & was manufactured on 17th March 1971 at the Fiat factory. (Being a Fiat badged model with the full aluminium bonnet & side trims). It was then dispatched to its first Italian owner. with whom it stayed until it was exported to Holland on 28th November 1994. The first owner was a keen 500 enthusiast & used this beautiful Giardiniera on several Club Italiano Touring holidays of which there are stickers in the back windows ranging from the 80's through to 1994 when the car was sold. It is now safely with us in sunny Kent & looking for it's next long term owner!
This stunning little Giardiniera was expertly restored by the father & son of the Italian car specialist 2 years ago. If it was done for a paying customer the final bill would have been not far of the current asking price! However as it was a personal car & a Father & son project. money was not the key driver to get it restored to factory standards. The restoration took in access of six months & the key stages were photographed & colour printed for the history file. so the quality & care & attention lavished on this chap can be seen.
This example has the original shell along with the original engine. now rebuilt as required & very well detailed. The underside is also protected & looks superb. it's is by far one of the most honest Fiat Giardiniera's we have ever come across. On our close inspection it looks properly restored & possibly as good as when it left the factory in 1971!

A full new tan piped cream period interior was made & fitted along with matching door cards and a new full black mat set installed along with all other items of interior trim. A new quality black sunshine roof was also fitted.
The car was totally fully primed & painted at this time in blue scuro that you see today. This includes the shell complete inside & out. engine bay & boot compartment. No corner was left not professionally painted. The underside suspension parts were also fully finished to a very high standard in black. In fact it looks as good underneath as it does on the top!
