LOGO'd '54 Barndoor Pickup   Price: £15. 00Hi All. I am chasing busses again. so I will have to sell the very cool logo'd Dunlop pickup

With a build date of 11/11 '54. this little truck was finished in Primer. and left the factory on 26/11 '54. to go to Scania-Vabis Volkswagen dealer in Soedertaelje. Sweden. It was then sold to a Glass worker in Lulea. I presume this was when it was painted in the blue and white we see before us. Looking at the Swedish documents. it appears to have stayed with this owner for 5 years. than after '58 it had 3 owners until it was retired in 1965. 2 of these owners appear to have added their own layers of signwriting. the Dunlop tyre garage being one of them. so the paintwork on this truck is real archaeology! 8)

FBI VW discovered this truck way back in 2002. and recovered it to the UK. By then it had ended up on a verge near its home town. missing most of its parts. It was then sold to a UK buyer who stored it for a further 7 years. After this it went to the farm where I passed it to a friend who has carried out extensive work and parts searching to make it a lot more complete There is a build thread here from him:

Since then it has passed back in to my possession. and has seen more welding and parts sourcing. Most parts are now with it. and it has had all the difficult welding parts completed with a combination of Klassicfab and Autocraft panels. It is now running a Type 1 spindle conversion on the front. which has narrowed it by 3 3/8 inches. and dropped it by just under 3. 5 inches. The rear is now straight axled with a late Beetle swing axle gearbox. running a late split bus nosecone. and a Wagens West Urethane Donut front gearbox adaptor mount. far better than a solid mount. I have new window rubbers. lights. brake lines. master cylinder etc. and the intention is to fit a GWO 1600 t/p I have into it with J tubes and a late single outlet exhaust. Here are a lot of photos of it from a couple of weeks ago. as you can see it is a work in progress.

Stock height is also an option on this. give me a call if you want to have a run through the options. viewing more than welcome.

This is MOT exempt. already registered. taxed. on record with HMRC's NOVA system. so as soon as its done its on the road. no delays. Give me a shout on 07866618267 for a chat about the possibilities. they are endless with vehicular art ;-)
