1968 VW early bay dormobile camper. Super rare RHD bus with MOT till jan 2015

Hi & welcome to the auction of my beloved &super rare right hand drive 1968 'push button' handle early bay dormobile.

Ive owned this bus for nearly 14 years & have had so many good times in it at VW festivals & having great holidays & weekends away.  I never thought I would sell it. but. My son was born last year & It has become apparent that this bus isn't suitable for us any more. The sleeping arrangement was perfect for the 2 of us but isn't ideal for my little baby boy! I don't wont to make any drastic changes to the layout of the camper as it still has the original dormobile interior fitted & I would like to keep it that way as this is one of. if not the oldest bay dormobile camper still on the road.

As you can see from the pics this is a super cool looking bus. If you know your VWs you will realise how rare this bus it as being a 1968 model it comes with the split screen style push button cab door handles & various other one year only trinkets.  Its no show winner but it is a nice solid & reliable bus. Ive been all over in this bus including to cornwall 12 times. An epic 800 - 1000 mile trip in a week each time & its always got me there and back without any major drama. Obviously its not perfect. there is a bit of 'patina' but its nice & solid (Ive included some pics of the underside). The engine leaks a bit of oil & the windows in the pop top could do with replacement as they leak a little.

The bus comes fitted with loads of nice accessories - A nicely patina'd roof rack. stainless steel hub caps. headlamp eye lids & rain guards on the cab windows. an empi quick shift gear lever. mounteney steering wheel. bamboo under dash parcel shelf. surf board rear view mirror. an immobiliser. A good quality sound system incorporating a component speakers up front & 6x9's in the rear. The bus is fitted with a split charge system with leisure battery. The engine is fitted with twin webber 34ict carbs. a 4 into 1 exhaust header with fat boy rear silencer & pertronic electronic ignition - this gives a usefull gain in power & improvement in fuel economy. The bus has been lowered but im not really sure by how much as it was done before I bought the van. Its not stupidly low & still rides well but also looks cool - Perfect!

Below I have a list of jobs that I planned on doing to the bus this year.

1 - replace the cv gaitors (they are getting perished now & seem to need doing every 3-4 years

2 - replace the seals on the windows in the poptop

3 - replace the rear main seal & the rocker cover gaskets on the engine to fix the oil leaks

The bus is MOT'd until jan 2015 & the road tax is free!
