JAGUAR "E" TYPE SERIES 3 5.3 V12 MANUAL CONVERTIBLE for sale
Current customer rating:
In 2008 Telegraph readers voted the “E” type most beautiful car built but this was nothing new the car had been described as such by Enzo Ferrari in 1961.
Ten years later the series 3 cars were launched as out and out sports car morphed into a sublime grand-tourer. It is easy to forget the affect at the time. the new car had aggressive looks. wider track. longer wheelbase and benefited from power steering and all new Jaguar 5. 3 litre engine. the first mass produced V 12 since before the war.
This car is a 1973 series 3 “E” type V 12 convertible in Lavender with black trim. It is a UK supplied RHD car in its original colour. as confirmed by a Heritage Certificate. The mileage shows just 61. 00. The current owner is a classic Jaguar technician by trade who has spent many hours bringing this “E” type up to its present condition – although it has never had or needed a complete restoration.
The body is in excellent condition. the underside and all important sill areas are rust free. the panel fit is as good as it gets and the paint finish is superb. Inside the cockpit the excellent original trim is representative of the cars mileage rather than its age and the mo-hair hood is a recent replacement. The under-bonnet has been comprehensively detailed to correct original appearance – a costly and time consuming job – and is spectacular.
In current ownership for the last five years. this “E” type has been thoroughly sorted for personal use and is in A 1 condition with nothing to do. ready to use. The preceding owner had the car for 14 years and in 1998 it was featured in “Jaguar World” – a copy is with the car. Advertised here on behalf of the owner. viewing by arrangement in Taplow. Buckinghamshire. More photos will be available soon.
