Daimler Double Six 1988 35k

Where to start . ems like this come along seldom. Having been around cars for more years than I care to remember. wning Bentleys Porsche Ferrari etc etc including a fair few S3 Jaguars and Daimlers. This is without doubt the best I have seen since I sat in one parked next to a brand Lotus esprit turbo in the showroom at Grimsby Motors as a small child. I was smitten then and I still am now. Its a tough decision to sell as I know I'll never get another like it. So if it doesn't I shall keep it and on that basis any timewasters please go elsewhere now.  

Ok this car has come to me after I was asked to go and view it where it had been kept inside a heated garage for around 10 years following a bereavement. prior to that when in use the car was always kept in the same garage and it shows. he log book shows 2 previous . ts in the widows name now. revious was the deceased and the story goes that the original owner was a cabinet minister who saw Margaret Thatcher being whisked away in tears from Number 10 for the last time by her husband Dennis and immediately ordered a car to exactly the same specification as the one she left in. Its in Westminster blue with doeskin leather.

I'm not going to go into just what a fantastic car the series 3 Daimler double six is as I'm going to assume anyone reading this will know and appreciate its virtues

Ok to this car . t was sold by Dunham and Haines on the 27/09/1988 for the princely sum of £36069. 50 I know this as the original invoice is with the original book pack including all of the accompanying books and original tax disc holder from Dunham Jaguar.

The car is un-restored and original . can find no evidence of previous paintwork at all . he usual areas of rot are not present with only a tiny bubble at the top of the rear screen and one other at bottom of wing. he front screen surrounds are immaculate. s are the door bottoms. valances . nder tank panels. eadlight surrounds. ills floors etc etc. never welded and not needing any . he paintwork shines and the sides are arrow straight with no dents small or large. he door gaps are original and the doors shut with a resounding clunk. nbsp;Kent alloys are superb original with only tiny blemishes under scrutiny. nd are shod with the correct Pirelli P5 Cintaurato's.

To sum up the body would be superb original 9. 5 out of 10 with minor stone chips and the aforementioned

Interior well just simply stunning . he leather looks as if no one ever sat in it. he wood looks as fresh as the day it left Browns lane the headlining is intact and not drooping or saggy. he original sheepskin mats are present and have been protected by another set of overmats. he drivers one is missing though. The carpets underneath are untouched and as new. The boot area is untouched and again as new. The only downside to the interior if it is a downside is that at some point I would say in the nineties a very expensive Alpine sound system has been professionally fitted it has the fold out screen with sat nav and dvd player and would have cost a small fortune in its day . ut if you want original it would be easy to swap back.

This truly is opulent luxury at its best free from technology

Mechanicals well she flew through an MOT with no advisories at all. The tester couldn't believe its condition. It drives absolutely superbly nothing else comes close. The gears change smoothly and the V12 purrs as it should no knocks or bangs over bumps just as it should be.

Everything works and I mean everything. ruise. lectric windows are quick and smooth . unroof . eating system. irrors everything.

All original books wallets. oth keys. nd handbooks are with the car.

The plate has recently been valued between £1500 and £2000 depending who you use it goes with the car. I wont be knocking anything off if you don't want it but will gladly accept it if you don't.

To round up really needs to be seen and driven to be appreciated its an original unmolested car and as such there will be the odd minor stonechip etc what there isn't is a bucket load of filler and fresh paint. It needs a discerning owner who appreciates that and is willing to make a rock solid investment as we all know these are quickly appreciating in value.
